We've got torches to light the the path to the Black Lodge...you coming with us? Agent Cooper finally realizes that Windom Earle is playing by a different set of rules, and with the clock ticking, the race is on to discover what the game is and how to beat him. It begins to dawn on him that maybe Earle didn't come to Twin Peaks for him...that maybe his goal all along was something of far greater and more devastating import... Meanwhile, unbeknownst to everyone, Major Briggs is abducted in the woods by Windom Earle, who seems hell-bent on extracting as much information from his former Project Blue Book colleague as he can. Cooper takes Annie dancing, and has a warning visit from The Giant. There's something wrong here, indeed. Because up in the woods...in the dark of night...near a circle of sycamores... There's a cave puzzle to decipher, Ben fancies himself a moral advisor, and Rusty's not having a good day either...buckle up, Heavy Metal Youths, it's party time! (We promise, there are brewskies...) The mysteries of Owl Cave continue to unfold as the Sheriff's Department continues their investigation into its origins and meanings. But they aren't the only ones trying to crack the code: Windom Earle has been to the petroglyph and is now hot on the same trail. Enlisting the help of Major Briggs (for his connection to Project Blue Book and, thus, to Windom Earle) the fellas seem poised to make headway. Cooper also realizes that Audrey, Donna, and Shelly are being targeted by Windom Earle, and that the poem he sent them is one that Cooper sent to Caroline before she was murdered. Seems like the perfect time for Cooper to take Annie on a romantic nature study...but who's that watching from the shoreline? Elsewhere in Twin Peaks, Catherine lets Pete the poet have a go at the puzzle box Eckhardt left behind. There

Harry has a hangover and both Cooper and Gordon find themselves twitterpated as they fall for members of Norma's Double R staff! But while everyone's making heart eyes at each other over slices of pie, Windom Earle continues his dangerous game, this time with cards as the metaphor instead of chess. As we inch closer and closer to the inevitable confrontation between Agent Cooper and his Moriarty, the stakes are raised: there's new love in the air and a diverting new game on the horizon, this time involving...beauty pageants? Also: John Justice Wheeler asks Ben for permission to date his daughter! Andy spelunks past Lucy's window! Donna's has more suspicions about her mother! Let's fly! 11/04/2017 Duración: 01h36min

Truman's feelin' low, Annie says Hello, John Justice Wheeler sings adagio, and Windom Earle plots his overthrow... A day after the death of his beloved Josie, Truman is in the dumps and Cooper does his best (which isn't saying much) to cheer him up. Also: Annie starts her first shift at the Double R! Audrey and Jack go on a picnic! Donna and Shelly get a visitor! Margaret and Major Briggs compare tattoos! And the pine weasel takes center stage! Today: Coop and Albert get nosy, the Angels explore the art of poesy, Ed & Norma get real cozy...and--no, really guys--what the hell happened to Josie?! Cooper and Albert zero in on the culprit behind who shot Cooper in his hotel room, as well as who shot Jonathan in the Seattle airport...and the result of their investigation isn't going to sit well with Sheriff Truman, who already knows the truth. Elsewhere, Josie comes face-to-face with yet another figure from her sordid past, and the wheels are set in motion, picking up speed as they carry her to her eventual fate. Also: Audrey falls head over heels for a near-total stranger! Ben Horne turns a new leaf! Nadine breaks up with Ed! Norma breaks up with Hank! Josie breaks up with life on the corporeal plane of existence! Is this finally the end of the Season 2 nadir? Who knows anything about poetry? And what's BOB got to do with this? These questions and many more will remain largely unanswered at the end of today's episode, but don't touch that drawer

  • Outtake - My Life My Tapes

    31/03/2017 Duración: 17min

Our conversation lasted for nearly 3 hours; we had an amazing time. Some of what we talked about seemed fitting to slip in here as a kind of bonus feature: more information on the Moonchild/Antichrist, Dale's religious experiences, a brief theory about Diane and the Peking duck, and Aidan tells us all about the Real Summer Houses of Flin Flon, Manitoba... Notes: Information on Flin Flon's history as the hydroponics lab of Canada We are extremely loathe to link to the Calgary Sun (not only because we're Edmontonians but also because the Sun is basically a tabloid) but this is a fun little look at Rudyard Kipling's historical connection to Medicine Hat, Alberta.

  • Special Episode - My Life My Tapes

    31/03/2017 Duración: 02h17min

Wherein Aidan, Lindsay, and special guest Eileen delve into The Autobiography of FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper: My Life My Tapes by Scott Frost. Written during Season 2 and released when the show was nearing its cancellation date, Dale Cooper's autobiography has long been divisive amongst Twin Peaks fans, who seem to either love it or hate it. We will attempt to break down the big themes and understand a little bit more about the nature of this book, what it's trying to say, and where it might be pointing us to as we come to the end of our original series recaps. Notes: You can find Eileen on Twitter (@steel_neena) Special thanks to Kevin (@KevMack1213) and John (@jpb_littlegreen) for spurring on discussion, both on Twitter and within this podcast episode! Big ups to Lee S. Millard whose beautifully digitized version of the out-of-print My Life My Tapes was how we all managed to read this book for the ep. You can find it here (in iBook and PDF format) "Diane: The Twin Peaks Tapes of Agent Cooper" is ava

  • Episode 23 - Slaves and Masters

    28/03/2017 Duración: 01h49min

Evelyn Marsh says goodbye, Ben shouts his final battle cry, and Windom's gift is terrifying. Cooper makes a big break through in the case of "Who Shot Me?", but the answer he gets leaves him in a bit of a quandary with Sheriff Truman since, well...*ahem* MEANWHILE, Albert returns to grace our screen and bring terrible news that Windom Earle is absolutely coming for Coop. Threats abound and Coop's taken to wearing flannels. Whatever is going to happen? Is Cooper being a terrible friend to Truman? Did Diane Keaton really direct the worst episode in the history of Twin Peaks? Also: Evelyn takes charge (and gallops off our screen for good!) Ben Horne has a Dorothy moment! Ed and Norma let Nadine into bed...sort of! And guess who's coming to dinner at the Blue Pine Lodge? We've slaved away through the Season 2 doldrums and now we're lifting the veil of darkness that's settled over it all since the reveal of Laura's killer. And we're so fortunate to have friend of the podcast and all-around superfan & supergu

  • Episode 22 - Double Play

    21/03/2017 Duración: 01h37min

Cooper's past is unsealed, Leo is miraculously healed, Ben moves on the battlefield, & Windom Earle is revealed... Cooper finally confides in Truman about the extent of his involvement with Windom Earle and Windom's wife, Caroline. With the former Agent Earle having taken a pawn off the board, the stakes are growing higher. Will they be able to find him before he makes his next move? (Of course they won't--we've still got 9 episodes left until the finale!) Meanwhile: Leo wakes up! Audrey finds a new business partner! James is set up! And Thomas Eckhardt reappears! Notes: This is Scott Frost's second and final outing as head writer for an episode. We last saw him in Episode 8 of this season ("Drive With a Dead Girl") Can't believe we're linking this, but here goes: the song Ben Horne sings so gallantly is "Dixie", an old Confederate tune.

  • Episode 21 - Checkmate

    14/03/2017 Duración: 01h29min

Cooper plots a ruse, Dick & Andy hunt for clues, Ben seems quite confused, and the station blows a fuse in this week's episode of Twin Peaks. The sting operation up at Dead Dog Farm gets put into motion and goes spectacularly awry owing to a quirk of nervous physiology. After several hours, hostage negotiations come to a head with some quick thinking by Denise and Cooper that leaves one of the drug dealers dead; Cooper, meanwhile, has to grapple with the fear and insecurity that, maybe, his presence in Twin Peaks has brought a nightmare to town... Also: Ben goes to Gettysburg! Ed and Norma make it official! Leo acts like a clown! James and Evelyn...do stuff?...honestly we don't even remember. And it's lights out at the Sheriff's Station--and who's that guy in Truman's office???

Bobby Briggs inadvertently helps Audrey to clear Cooper's name when the photos he's taken of Hank Jennings for Ben Horne wind up proving that the drug charges against Coop have been trumped up. Meanwhile, Windom Earle has predicted Cooper's opening chess move perfectly, further underscoring the brilliance and danger of his opponent. Major Briggs also makes a momentous return in his family living room after a strange and unexplained absence... Also: Nadine goes a-rasslin'! Lana bewitches the Sheriff's department! Molly Shannon is here! And James and Evelyn...well the less said about them, the better!

Ben goes to the movies! Nadine joins the wrestling team! Josie sleeps in! Doug Milford gets hitched! Whyyy is James hanging out with Evelyn Marsh and who the heck cares about Little Nicky Needleman?! Notes: A brief history of laptop computing We were wrong (not the first time, won't be the last)--malteds and milkshakes aren't the same thing. Here's an explanation of why ...but Lindsay was right! "Dweller on the Threshold" is a song by Van Morrison. And just for fun, here's the opening credits sequence to Season 1 of The Mod Squad. (Also...did you know Peggy Lipton released a psychedelic soft rock album?!)

  • Episode 18 - Dispute Between Brothers

    21/02/2017 Duración: 01h01min

In which we take a jump—"Three Days Later", the first and only time such a jump between episodes occurs—and check in with the other residents of Twin Peaks at the wake for Leland Palmer. It's Cooper's last day in Twin Peaks; with the wrap up of the investigation, he's headed back to Philadelphia, which leads to heartfelt goodbyes...until the fare-thee-wells are interrupted by FBI Internal Affairs and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Even though he's in trouble, Cooper takes it easy though, unable to affect the outcome of things out of his control, and enjoys a night of fishing with Major Briggs that also goes south when the Major disappears. What fresh hell has Twin Peaks unearthed for Cooper this time? Also: Nadine enrolls in high school! Bobby gets thrown out! Audrey wears a suit! Norma meets MT Wentz! Josie returns! • Special Episode - Who Really Killed Laura Palmer?

    17/02/2017 Duración: 01h13min

**Deals with sensitive subject matter. Listener discretion advised** In this special episode, we delve a bit deeper into the confusing questions that arose at the end of the last: namely, who is the true killer of Laura Palmer? Was this really a case of demonic possession? How culpable is Leland Palmer in the abuse and murder of his daughter? And who really is BOB? Notes: For more information, we cannot recommend Joel Bocko's incredible video essay "Journey Through Twin Peaks" enough! Here is his entry on the killer's reveal While we're hesitant about any strict, dogmatic interpretations of Twin Peaks, the charges of misogyny leveled at both it and David Lynch in general have stuck around long enough to warrant mention here. Here is an essay that discusses it in relation to Laura's death and the reveal of Leland as her killer:

  • Episode 17 - Arbitrary Law

    14/02/2017 Duración: 01h14min

Where we are joined by special guest Nathan from Edmonton for a look at Leland's trouble soul. With the blessing of the Sheriff and encouragement from the FBI, and using all the tools available in his Intuitive Detection Kit, Cooper sets off down the final stretch of his path as he gives himself 24 hours to solve the murders of Laura Palmer and, now, Maddy Ferguson. Meanwhile, Donna has a brief encounter of the inhabiting spirit kind when she visits the Palmer house and learns of Maddy's fate. Will Cooper figure it out in time to save her from the same terrible fate? Also: Andy learns French! Lucy talks paternity! Ben finds his alibi! James gets on his bike and goes! Notes The Tremond grandson's name is Pierre. Now that the horror of Leland's death has come and gone, why not watch him on the ridiculous "Tim & Eric's Awesome Show Great Job!" delivering advice on how to give proper business hugs! Could the fire sprinklers be putting out the fire in Leland's soul? Sound off in the comments!

  • Episode 16 - Drive With a Dead Girl

    08/02/2017 Duración: 01h10min

The aftermath of Maddy's murder and the reveal of Laura's killer leads us into the realm of dramatic irony for the first time in Twin Peaks! Agent Cooper and Sheriff Truman get closer to figuring out the truth the audience already knows—that Ben Horne did not kill Laura—and Cooper gets reacquainted with his intuition, much to the Sheriff's consternation; meanwhile, Bobby dabbles in blackmail, and Norma gets a surprise visitor at the Double R. Also! Does Ben need a new lawyer? How hard is it to keep the One Armed Man from escaping? And where does one go in a town like Twin Peaks for good, quality showtunes? (Apparently, all you need is a car and a set of golf clubs...) We may as well call this The Jerry Show since so many of our clips selected for this week's episode feature his classic deadpan humour, but after the darkness of last week's episodes, we were just so glad for Jerry Horne we couldn't resist! Notes: 'Fahrt' translates to 'Journey', according to good ol' Google Translate. And now that we think a
