  • Oregon update -- Arizona makes illegal-illegal

    After the recent murder of Robert Krentz, 58, a prominent Southeast rancher in Arizona was killed along with his dog by an illegal alien before midnight Saturday on his 35,000 acre ranch that is family owned since 1907 about 35 miles northeast of Douglas, Arizona lawmakers passed Senate Bill 1070, which is the toughest state anti-immigration act in the country. The bill makes it a misdemeanor to lack proper immigration paperwork in Arizona……………… do you think it's a good idea or do you think it's a formula for disaster……………….. In a recent poll, three out of four Americans are either "frustrated" or "angry" with the federal government and nearly one third of the public views the government as a "threat to their personal freedom," according to a recent survey by the Pew Research Center………………… will be talking about these and other items in the news on the next edition of Oregon Update.

    NEW TAXES How fast will big business leave Oregon especially in the wake of measures 66 and 67? "They are anti-business, anti-success, anti-inspirational, anti-humanitarian, and most ironically, in the long run, they will deprive the state of tax revenue, not increase it." -- Phil Knight other companies that used to be headquartered in Oregon or no longer exists include the First National Bank -- G.I. Joe's -- Monaco coach -- Meyer & Frank -- Georgia-Pacific -- Pacific power -- Willamette industries -- US bank and many others. Even with the passage of measures 66 and 57, Oregon still feels that it does not have enough money and is looking for other means of increasing taxes, and fees including suggesting after being told NO nine times, a sales tax. Do you feel that the Oregon legislature is doing a good job in this recession and that we should be adding more taxes for schools, education and the tribe provide healthcare for everyone? (The latter I thought the Oregon health plan is supposed to do.) I
