Sinopsis

Episodios

  • S7 Ep208: Conversations with Oscar: Killers of the Flower Moon

    06/02/2024 Duración: 01h22min

We finally saw one of the most anticipated movies of last year, and we had some differing thoughts. The three hour Martin Scorsese epic tells the story of The Reign of Terror that occurred in Oklahoma in the early twentieth century. While we all agree it is visually a beautiful movie, we couldn't help but feel like we wanted to see this story from the point of view of the Osage. We always love when we disagree on a movie so give this one a listen and tell us where you stand. Let us know! 02/02/2024 Duración: 01h20min

Cozy vibes? Check! Banger soundtrack? Check! Cast with amazing chemistry? Check! Alexander Payne's quiet Christmas movie snuck up on us and stole our hearts.  It is hard to deny this film its accolades when it made us feel so warm and fuzzy. We hope this movie is a great jumping off point for Dominic Sessa and leads to more Da'Vine Joy Randolph in everything everywhere all the time. What did you think of The Holdovers? • S7 Ep206: Conversations with Oscar: Barbie

    30/01/2024 Duración: 01h09min

Hi Barbie! Who would have thought that a Barbie movie would be one of the best movies of the year and also Oscar Nominated? Greta Gerwig made sure that all of our preconceived notions on what a Barbie movie could be were completely wrong. She brought to life a moving story about what it means to be a woman today. Every word, performance, and detail was handled with such thought and care it is no surprise that it was nominated for Best Picture. What did you think of Barbie? • S6 Ep205: Oscar Rewind: The King's Speech

    28/12/2023 Duración: 01h26min

AND THE WINNER IS...a let down? We have had so much fun this season with some really great films. Films that we called perfect, modern classics, innovative, surprising; and it all led to one of the most predictable Best Picture Winners. Surprising to no one, this was not on the top of any of our rankings at the end of this season, but we can't say we didn't like it. Colin Firth gives a moving performance because he can do no wrong. Geoffrey Rush was a charming supporting actor that matched Firth toe to toe, and Tom Hooper wasn't as annoying as he could be. If this had been 2012's Best Picture Winner, this conversation might have been completely different. Tell us your thoughts on the 2011 race over on Twitter and Instagram. We're taking a short break before we come back with our Conversations with Oscar series- where we dive into the current Oscar season and as always, give our thoughts! • S6 Ep204: Oscar Rewind: Winter's Bone

    21/12/2023 Duración: 59min

Jennifer Lawrence is a household name today, but in 2010 she was a fresh faced new comer who scored an Oscar nomination right out of the gate. Jennifer Lawrence's skills shone in this dark, tense film. Director Debra Granik created an immersive haunting tale that launched the career of a future Hunger Games Winner. • S6 Ep203: Oscar Rewind: True Grit

    14/12/2023 Duración: 01h18min

Only a few episodes left in this season of Oscar Rewind. This week we're talking about True Grit. At least we mostly talk about True Grit. We get side tracked a lot in this one folks, so please try and keep up. We wouldn't say western is our favorite genre, but the Coen brothers made this one a hit for us. The cinematography by the genius that is Roger Deakins, and the beautiful, show stopping performance by Hailee Steinfeld had us glued to our screens! What's your favorite western? • S6 Ep202: Oscar Rewind: Toy Story 3

    07/12/2023 Duración: 01h26min

We have watched our fair share of movies here at We Have Thoughts Incorporated. Many of them good, many of them not so good. We had a season of movies so mid we nearly lost our minds. It is very rare that we come across a perfect movie, but this season we did. Toy Story 3 has it all. It had us laughing, crying, scared, and thinking of yesteryear. Pixar came into our lives as children and continues to deliver some of our favorite movie going experiences today. Animation can deliver everything live action can and perhaps even more. Listen to us gush about our pals Woody and Buzz this week, and stay tuned for the last few episodes of this season. We couldn't be more excited! What are your childhood memories about the Toy Story franchise? What's your favorite Pixar movie? Let us know on Twitter and Instagram and leave us a review where ever you listen to podcasts! • S6 Ep201: Oscar Rewind: The Social Network

    30/11/2023 Duración: 01h33min

One of the many reasons we started this podcast was to talk about great movies with our best friends and in this weeks episode, we get to do just that. The Social Network is everyone at the top of their game. Fincher's directing, Sorkin and his melodic script, and even Justin Timberlake pulls out a good performance. Each puzzle piece fit so well it created a modern classic. The Social Network will be talked about for generations to come. We're glad to be a tiny piece in the conversation.  Follow us on Twitter and Instagram and leave us a review where ever you listen to podcasts! • S6 Ep200: Oscar Rewind: The Kids Are All Right

    23/11/2023 Duración: 50min

Thirteen years ago might not seem like that long ago, but The Kids Are All Right’s progressiveness feels a bit out dated. Lisa Cholodenko’s intimate story about a family during a time a time of transition and upheaval is done well and with a soft touch and a stellar cast, however in 2023 it falls a bit flat for us. • S6 Ep199: Oscar Rewind: Inception

    16/11/2023 Duración: 01h26min

We could go on and on and on about our love and admiration for Christopher Nolan’s storytelling, and we do. Inception is a film that will stand the test of time. The performances, the writing, the score, the cinematography are all top of their game. We have a feeling we will be talking about Nolan some more very soon. • S6 Ep198: Oscar Rewind: The Fighter

    09/11/2023 Duración: 51min

Well, we made it this far before coming across our first mid film. A whole two weeks. If you’ve been listening to us for a while, you already know our thoughts and feelings about David O. Russell. In short, we don’t like him or his movies much, save for Silver Linings Playbook. In The Fighter, he takes on our favorite subject, sports. There must be a dad film every year, and I’m sure 2011 dads were hyped to see a film about boxers they knew of growing up. Yay for them. Stick with us this week! We promise better films are coming. • S6 Ep197: Oscar Rewind: Black Swan

    02/11/2023 Duración: 01h38s

It’s rare to have a horror film nominated for Best Picture, but in this week’s episode we get to talk about the psychological horror that is Black Swan. This dark tale of a ballerina pushed to her breaking point is magnificently done by Darren Aronofsky, Natalie Portman, and Mila Kunis. The score, the choreography, the costumes all blended seamlessly to create the edge of your seat horror/thriller that will stand the test of time. • S6 Ep196: Oscar Rewind: 127 Hours

    26/10/2023 Duración: 49min

Hello Friends! Welcome back to another season of our Oscar Rewind Series! This time we’re looking back at the 2011 Best Picture nominees. We’ve got an exciting season ahead of us, and we can’t wait to dive in. In this first episode the gang looks back at possibly James Franco’s best film, 127 Hours. Danny Boyle and James Franco handle this story with reverence and Franco’s portrayal of Aron Ralston’s vulnerability in those trying hours was indeed Oscar worthy. We’re only a few hours into this season and it is already looking to be better than the last.  Make sure to follow us on all the socials. We're on Twitter and Instagram and we’d love to hear from you! Also, it would be extremely helpful if you could leave a review wherever you listen to this podcast, so that others can find us! Thanks! 27/07/2023 Duración: 01h24min

We made it to the end of another season of our Oscar Rewind series! The Artist took home the big win, but the actual big win is this episode right here. We’re not sure what was in the air, but we were off our rockers and couldn’t be tamed. Laughs were shared, and tears were shed in this monumental episode that will go down as one our favorites. Oh, and we talk about this movie and how lack luster this whole season is. On to the next!  Keep looking at our socials for when the next Rewind Series is coming out and start getting excited for our Conversations with Oscar series at the beginning of 2024! 13/07/2023 Duración: 01h07min

You've heard us complain all season long about how bored we are. Terrence Malick woke us up this week with the visual feast that The Tree of Life is. This artistic look at generational and inherited trauma told without a linear through line or much of a script manages to be the most thought provoking film of the season thus far. 22/06/2023 Duración: 53min

The tide of this slow season seems to finally be turning with Martin Scorsese's ode to movies.
