As I study the owner’s manual on my new 2019 automobile and 2020 motorcycle, I am totally blown away. The technology advancement in the two vehicles will enable a safer, enjoyable, and a more comfortable ride that cannot be overlooked. I had the pleasure to take two long trips recently, which provided me an opportunity to discover and use the technology and innovation introduced in both of these vehicles. Therefore, it’s time to look at the technology advancements a little deeper and share my experiences. Let’s see if we can share both the pleasure and frustration of these new technology advancements. I have asked my friend, Mr. Dick Ross, to join me as my guest to discuss the explosion of technology gadgets. During the last four seasons, Today, Tomorrows, Technology (T3) has led the discussion on technology, innovation and engineering component designs or development of new gadgets. As your host, I cannot be more excited about season 5. I have studied, searched, and reviewed many of our future potential technologies and how these systems will or should impact our world today and tomorrow. Eight months ago, T3 describe the need for rebuilding and reconstruction on the island of Puerto Rico after the destructions of two major Hurricanes, Irma and Maria in 2017. Today, the Caribbean Islands are approximately 24 days away from Hurricane season which officially began on June 1, 2019 and will end on November 30, 2019. The last time we spoke about technology and hurricane was 8 months ago. Today, T3 will discuss the on-going reconstruction effort island and the tools used to help predict, prepare and avoid impact of hurricanes. Additionally, how is Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Government of PR doing since our last update. Fifteen years ago, on March 13, 2004, fifteen vehicles were selected as finalist for the 2004 DARPA Grand Challenge (GC) for Autonomous Vehicles. What a fascinating adventure kicked off that day. A variety of folks working on the GC had diverse opinions on whether or not this would prove to be a successful experiment. Why was DARPA engaging in this forum to begin with; what was expected from these new innovations? Today, self-driving vehicle technology continues to be developed soon to reach its full potential and capabilities, but why are so many folks betting on this technology.
