Have you ever been out of the country? Have you ever been somewhere where they did not have electricity or running water? This is a reminder to me of how rich we are... James 5: 1-6 "Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you. Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter. You have condemned and murdered the innocent one, who was not opposing you." James is hard on them, not because they are rich, but because they are oppressing those around them. it is hard to love others when we are focused on ourselves

Don't wish your life away Have you heard the phrase, "the days are long and the years are short?" Listen in on my thoughts on how short our life really is, how we should be living in the now. What does God have for me today? Am I living for Him today? James 4:13-17 "Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them." You are valued God is jealous for you! You are Desired! Have you committed adultery in your relationship with God? Have you turned your back on Him for other things? What are you sowing with your words and your actions? James 3:18 "Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness." Wisdom will have action with the knowledge. James 3:13-16 "Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice." Cannot judge a book by its cover... Looks can be deceiving! How often do we quickly judge someone else? When you are in the midst of trials, what is your reaction? When you are put under pressure, you can really learn more about yourself. It is easy to play it cool when everything is going as planned, easy to act like everything is okay and that you have a good relationship with God. God's peace surpasses all understanding, if you are close to the Lord, when things start falling apart, you will be confident in Him. Even though we can grieve or be hurt, our life will not fall apart when our foundation is Jesus, nothing can move Him! James 1:12 "Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him." Trust is a sacred thing, it takes a while to earn it, and can go away really fast! James talks about being Double Minded in the verses I discuss in todays 4 minute episode. Am I a double minded man? James 1: 5-8 " If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. Are we striving to have the easiest life as possible? Are we avoiding all risks? James 1:1 James is my absolute favorite books of the Bible! I recommend, when you are a new believer to read one of the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John), Next possibly read Acts (what happens after the Gospels) then James. This is fantastically practical. What is it we strive to be? What is your title at work? What title would you like to have? James 1:1 "James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes scattered among the nations: Greetings." This stands out to me, listen in to hear more of why this verse is so impactful to me... Moms could take over the world If only we were more supportive of one another, I remember a funny Facebook video of a lady telling us how powerful a group of moms would be if they were more encouraging to one another instead of judging one another. Romans 15:5-7 "May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God." May the church be more unified, let us not judge one another on the way we serve God, but come to an understanding that we all serve one Lord, Jesus Christ, and we are called to build one another up! I am convinced that just going through the motions does not give God honor or glory. Our heart behind what we do can matter much more than the act we are doing. Romans 14:4 "Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand." In Episode 035, I discuss the importance of our heart in our actions. Going through the motions does not worship God, we are to have a heart for Him and be doing things with the purpose of giving Him the honor and glory for it, that worships Him. Romans 13 It appears that maybe the Apostle Paul was dealing with Apathy. vs.8-10 "Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law." Jesus interrupted their daily routine, then a few years later they get back in their daily routine, Jesus is still coming! Do not live your life in slumber, get out of the zone, take off auto-pilot. Worship is deeper than praising and singing, it is a lifestyle. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." Let the transforming of the renewing of our mind be a lifestyle. Let us choose everyday to give God our life, to love Him, to worship Him with our life.
