We have freedom in Christ. Romans 14:20 " Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food..." Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should, especially if it can cause others to lose faith.

The Apostle Paul tells how it is such an encouragement to be around the Roman church, how they build his faith when he is around them. Romans 1:12 " ...that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith."

I love being a dad and watching my kids grow up! There is so much I have learned as a father of 4 young ones. I feel like I must apologize if I only point out the negative things about children. It is through them I notice my own sin and short-comings. Proverbs 24:29 "Do not say, “I’ll do to them as they have done to me; I’ll pay them back for what they did.” Thanks for tuning in :)

When scripture tells us that: Proverbs 16:2 "All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord." How would we know if our motives are pure if we never take the time to think about it, truly have some self-awareness to see if I am living a life building up myself or on lifting up my savior! Do you find yourself being envious of others success, lifestyle, relationships, etc or are you genuinely excited and happy for them?

I recall acting out a scene, over and over and over again for a "drive-thru" Christmas Story experience our church put on for the community. The scene I acted in repeatedly was in our reading today. The crowd demanded the death of Jesus. They wanted it so badly that when given the opportunity to put to death Jesus or a convicted murderer they chose to set the murderer free. Luke 23:22-25 “For the third time, he spoke to them: “Why? What crime has this man committed? I have found in him no grounds for the death penalty. Therefore I will have him punished and then release him.” But with loud shouts, they insistently demanded that he be crucified, and their shouts prevailed. So Pilate decided to grant their demand. He released the man who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, the one they asked for, and surrendered Jesus to their will.” I think that Jesus made them extremely uncomfortable and wanted to get rid of Him once and for all.

Life is fragile and short and it can change in an instant. We had a scar over our vacation where we had to take our 2-year-old to the hospital. There always seems to be things that are on your mind or causing you anxiety, but when something like that happens everything else really doesn't seem to matter. It snaps you out of your mindset and fixation on the things that really don't matter. Luke 21:33 “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” If we focus our lives on things other than Jesus... in time... we will realize how short-sighted we were and how we truly focused and caught up in the wrong things. Maybe it's time for a mindset change. Do we take sin seriously? We read about sin and how it is in the world. Jesus warns us that those who are the ones who influence others to sin will also get punishment. Luke 17:1-2 “Jesus said to his disciples: “Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through whom they come. It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble.” May we be aware of how we may be influencing others and more cognizant of the sins in our own lives and repent from them. Losing something important to you is a terrible thing. Jesus talks about sinners in this way, as people who are lost and Jesus got ridiculed for spending time with sinner but everyone is important to Jesus. Every. Single. Person! Luke 15:1-2 “Now the tax collectors and sinners were all gathering around to hear Jesus.2 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” Do we see sinners as Jesus does? Traveling is expensive! You really have to plan before you go on a bigger trip, especially if you are traveling with young children, they need lots of stuff... like car seats! I can only imagine how awful it would be to not plan it all out ahead of time to run out of money along the way and try and go without something essential. It would be miserable. Jesus reminds us that following Him also costs us something and that it would be foolish to think you can be a disciple of Jesus and your life not be changed. Luke 14:28-33 “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, saying, ‘This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’ “Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king.
