Left Hand Right Brain Podcast

This week JD brings back longtime collaborators Paul Karolyi and Andres Becerril for a reflective, and at times uncomfortable, look at what this show has been and what it isn't anymore. JD revisits clips from nearly a decade ago, forcing everyone to confront earlier versions of themselves: the voices, the ambitions, the awkwardness, and the assumptions about creativity, success, and identity. What starts as a clip show quickly turns into a broader conversation about how podcasting has changed, why it's harder to be authentic now, and whether it's better to burn out or deliberately walk away. Along the way, they get into friendship over time, the shifting meaning of "making it," and the reality that not everything you build is meant to last forever.

This episode marks the beginning of the end for Left Hand Right Brain. This week JD is joined by longtime friend and comedian Patrick Scott to look back at where this podcast started and what it's become. We listen to clips from one of our first episodes together from 2016 and react to them—what holds up, what doesn't, and how much (or how little) we've actually changed. The conversation moves between comedy, relationships, career choices, and the pressure to grow into something more. It's an honest look at friendship over time and the strange experience of hearing your past self speak back to you. More than anything, this episode reflects what the podcast has always been: a record of where I was at the time. A running diary of conversations, ideas, and people who mattered. This is the first of several farewell episodes with guests who shaped the show along the way.
