  • Warp Zone Nerds Ep. 05 – A Case of the Mi.N.Ds

    26/01/2015 Duración: 01h01min

Welcome to the first round, with possibly many more to come, of the Miniature Intellectual Debates (Mi.N.D.s). The nerds gather together for a semi-civilized round of debates.  The parameters that are set forth...there are no parameters. Thomas, Michael, and Bobbie enter Nerd War One as they go over and as the tough questions. Each gathers their own set of questions that they want the others to debate.  The topics up for discussion include: Which of the Doctor's companions are the best, Donna or Amy? Which school is better, Xavier's School for the Gifted or Hogwarts? Are the Sith evil in Star Wars? Who would win in an AI battle, Siri or GlaDOS? If Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark switched towns, who would do better? Who's the better shot, Malcolm Reynolds or Han Solo? Finally, the nerds have a super power off as the final debate which results in splitting the earth into two a few times before the winner is decided. By the conclusion the nerds learn that Thomas and Bobbie will take over the world, the Jedi are ISIS,

  • Warp Zone Nerds Ep. 04 – A Nanny Named Smaug

    29/12/2014 Duración: 49min

Ho, ho, ho, and a Merry Gurnenthar's Ascendance to all from the Warp Zone Nerds. In honor of the happiest time of the year, when the world becomes a frozen hellscape and ancient tunes spread forth from mall speakers everywhere, The Nerds have gathered around a crackling Netflix video fire to discuss the many holiday specials that roam the television landscape each year. They will plumb the depths of early 90’s cultural exposition to find specials you vaguely remember watching as a child, or in the case of a certain draconic nanny, specials you never wanted to watch in the first place. In the spirit of the many holidays, the nerds explore the concepts of family and togetherness, and come closer together through a discussion of their road rage and embarrassing musical tastes. An argument in favor of Hanukah, that utilizes Superman and an armadillo, is examined and given thumbs up all around. The nerds also break down their favorite specials of the season. Michael gives his nod to the Colbert Christmas Special,

  • Warp Zone Nerds Ep. 03 – Thanksramblings

    24/11/2014 Duración: 38min

Once a year, the nerds, like most people, feel the need to gather around a table and express gratitude for the events of the past year. A ritual that has no name, but represents a sort of giving of thanks for pop-culture events. This year the nerds decided to revolutionize the world by giving the ritual a name...Thanksrambling. Thanks, to express gratitude, and rambling because no matter how hard they try, when Michael, Emily, and Thomas gather around a microphone, they cannot form a coherent sentence or thought. History shall remember this episode as the first of many Thanksramblings to come.  Here the nerds ramble about the upcoming massacre known as Dumb and Dumber To and come to the conclusion that it will inevitably be something for which they are not thankful or possibly the world’s most surprising dramatic film to date. They also opine on Neville Longbottom’s bathroom habits while Sirius Black was confronting the story’s main characters. Thanks will be given for many a subject, from the presence of awe

  • Warp Zone Nerds Ep. 02 – Horror: Alive, Dead or Undead

    27/10/2014 Duración: 56min

In this Halloween special it is important to ask, is horror a living, flourishing entertainment genre? Or is it dead with nothing new to contribute to media? Perhaps it is still showing signs of life, stumbling, moaning and occasionally lashing out at unsuspecting teenagers in the woods. This month the nerds tackle the big question: is the horror alive, dead or undead? Chase joins Michael, Tom, and Bobbie as they define horror as a genre and take the pulse of storytelling across media platforms to determine if they can save horror or if it is beyond the realm of a living, thriving medium. The nerds discuss some of the originators of horror subgenres, such as the Exorcist, the one and only exorcism film, and classic slasher movies. Bobbie takes time to complain about Prometheus, and Chase argues Gone Girl is one of the best horror films produced in the last few years. Tom and Chase also bond over a traumatic childhood viewing of the Shining, while Michael advocates Abbott and Costello’s place in the horror fil

  • Warp Zone Nerds Ep. 01 – Warp Zone Pop-Heads & Nerd Culture

    29/09/2014 Duración: 41min

What is a nerd? How have nerds run their reputation in the ground? Can anything be done to salvage the label of nerd? What exactly goes into fantasy supreme court? After a short hiatus, The Warp Zone Nerds are back to answer these pressing questions and more!  Thomas, Michael, and Bobbie are returning in a brand new way to talk about nerd culture while still embracing some of the things they did when they first started out.  What better topic for this nerd culture group to cover than just that, nerd culture.  The Nerds discuss how nerd culture has developed over the years and include how it has improved and gotten worse.  Problems include racism, sexism, death threats, and more.  Incidents range from what happened with GamerGate to the response that the “Mass Effect 3” ending had.  The Nerds do not just talk about problems though, with a lawyer, teacher, and journalist on board, they definitely have ideas for possible solutions to improve what is already there and repair the problems of nerd culture.
