30/08/2022 Duración: 53minWe're back to discuss all the current rock and metal news with New Noize Weekly! Kingdom Come drummer James Kottak will be sitting out their upcoming Texas concerts; giving way to former Slaughter drummer Blas Elias. Does this mean Kottak's tenure in the band is done? We discuss it. Sammy Hagar claims that he was visited by Eddie Van Halen in a dream and that it resulted in a new song. He says he'll be recording it and giving co-writer credit to the late, great guitarist. Is this true or is it Sammy just drumming up more press for himself? We give our thoughts. Paul Stanley says that new KISS music would be setting himself up for disappointment. Is he right? We give our take on the subject. Bret Michaels claims that a new Poison album would result in a fist fight between the band members. We share our take on his recent statement. Blackie Lawless purchased Elvis' master bedroom furniture. Huh? We share our thoughts on this as well as if Animal (F*ck Like a Beast) was inspired by 'Hound Dog.' Other stories cov

The Best & Worst of Pantera - Ep488
03/08/2022 Duración: 01h26minThis week we're joined by fellow podcasters Joshua Toomey and Chris Akin as we go over The Best & Worst of Pantera! With the Texas metal legends making news recently with the reunion of Philip Anselmo and Rex Brown along with drummer Charlie Benante and guitarist Zakk Wylde, we figured it's as good a time as any to look back on this incredible band's musical catalog. Starting with 1990's 'Cowboys from Hell,' Pantera blazed a whole new path for thrash and metal music. The Abbott brothers; Vinny Paul and Dimebag Darrell, cemented their place in music history and begun a run with Anselmo and Brown that hasn't been equalled. The subsequent releases 'Vuglar Display of Power,' 'Far Beyond Driven,' 'The Great Southern Trendkill,' and 'Reinventing the Steel' helped the band lay claim as one of the most influential metal bands of all-time. In this long-form discussion, we all share our thoughts on these albums, tell stories of how they personally affected us, and a lot more while picking our favorite and least favorit

New Noize Weekly 07.27.22 - Ep487
28/07/2022 Duración: 49minWe're back to discuss all the current happenings in the rock and metal world with New Noize Weekly! The past few weeks have been like KISSmas for die-hard fans of the Hottest Band in the Land as a treasure trove of unreleased KISS footage spilled out onto Youtube. The uploader, using the moniker 'Sam Loomis,' appears to be a disgruntled purchaser of the material and points the finger at a well-known KISS fan and author. We're not sure of who or what really led to the release of these videos but we're certainly happy we got to see them. A big loss to the KISS world (and rock at large) took place recently with the passing of producer Michael James Jackson. Known by many for his stellar work on the 'Creatures of the Night' and 'Lick it Up' albums, he more than left his mark in KISS fan circles. We share our thoughts on his passing as well as his career. Some big news came out of the Alice Cooper camp recently with the exit of guitarist Nita Strauss and the return of Kane Roberts. Nita left to join Demi Lovato's

His fandom has led him on a cool path that includes not only his great tribute band but two opportunities to actually appear on stage with Iron Maiden themselves! In this episode, we're focusing on the formative years of the band. We start with the two Paul Di'Anno-fronted albums Iron Maiden (1980) and Killers (1981). From there, we go over the Bruce Dickinson era including Number of the Beast (1982), Piece of Mind (1983), Powerslave (1984), Somewhere in Time (1986), and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (1988). For each of these albums, we'll share our thoughts and memories on them and pick what we think are the best and worst tracks. Will we agree? Will we disagree and start yelling at each other? Will our picks infuriate you? You'll have to listen to find out! We also cover the upcom

New Noize Weekly 06.23.22 - Ep482
23/06/2022 Duración: 57minWe're back to cover all the most important, noteworthy, and ridiculous recent rock news with New Noize Weekly. The Stadium Tour featuring Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Poison, and Joan Jett kicked off recently. We break down all the happenings and controversy including Tommy Lee's rib injury, Vince Neil's vocals, Def Leppard's new songs, and Poison taking things up a notch. KISS found themselves mired in a bit of controversy at their concert in Antwerp, Belgium as their use of vocal tracks got exposed due to some timing errors. We talk about the coverage it received. Kingdom Come's recent performance at Sweden Rock drew the wrong kind of attention as James Kottak's drumming was very off-kilter. Additionally, a bass solo that was, shall we say, memorable was performed. We talk about James Kottak's current state, the rumors of his substance abuse, and his recent explanation. Ugly Kid Joe had a busy week; releasing the first single for their upcoming album as well as having a band member arrested in California. We s

The Best & Worst of Poison - Ep481
19/06/2022 Duración: 01h58minThis week we're taking a deep dive into the discography of one of rock's most polarizing bands as we discuss The Best & Worst of Poison! Initially called Paris and formed in Mechanicsburg, PA, the band headed west for Los Angeles; landing on the burgeoning Sunset Strip scene. Quickly gaining popularity for their over-the-top look and relentless promotion, Poison became one of the must-see acts in Hollywood. With the release of 1986's 'Look What the Cat Dragged In,' the band scored hits with singles 'Talk Dirty to Me,' 'I Want Action,' and 'I Won't Forget You.' Superstardom would come next with 1988's 'Open Up and Say...Ahh!' release which resulted in chart positions for 'Fallen Angel,' 'Your Mama Don't Dance,' and the mega-ballad 'Every Rose Has It's Thorn.' The 90's would start strong on the release of 'Flesh and Blood' but everything was about to change. The exit of guitarist C.C. DeVille, entrance of Richie Kotzen, and change of sound on 1992's 'Native Tongue,' combined with the rise of grunge music, saw

New Noize Weekly - Week of 06.07.22
06/06/2022 Duración: 43minWe're back to talk about all the notable current rock happenings with New Noize Weekly for the week of June 7, 2022! Aerosmith recently cancelled several dates of their upcoming Las Vegas residency due to singer Steven Tyler checking into rehab. We discuss this sad development as well as our thoughts on the current state of the band. On the heels of the recent passing of Cynthia Plaster Caster, the famous cast of Jimi Hendrix's um, member, was recently put on display at Iceland's Penis Museum. Yes, this is a real story. We never expected to cover a story like this but here we are. A couple of very big auctions recently took place. One yielded the sale of Kurt Cobain's guitar from the 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' video for over 4 million dollars. Another notable rock auction featuring items from late Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul took place. We go over some of the items up for auction and share our thoughts. Other stories covered this week include the upcoming autobiography from WASP's Blackie Lawless, feuding betw

On Assignment - New England (1979) Ep478
31/05/2022 Duración: 01h17minThis week we return to the classroom as they go On Assignment for the 1979 self-titled release by New England. This time our teacher is Dennis Talbott from the Ages of Rock podcast. If you don't know, Ages of Rock is a fantastic music discussion show that you should check out. Dennis has plenty of reasons why he assigned us this record. He bought it as a new release and has since purchased over 20 copies! Say what?! Would we feel the same enthusiasm for this album as Dennis? You'll have to listen and find out! We give each song an A-F grade as well. New England featured band leader guitarist/vocalist John Fannon, drummer Hirsh Gardner, bassist Gary Shea and keyboardist Jimmy Waldo. The group was best known for the song "Don't Ever Wanna Lose Ya", which received heavy radio exposure on Album-oriented rock (AOR) stations and reached the US Top 40 in 1979. "Hello, Hello, Hello" also received some airplay. The quartet formed in the Boston area and was discovered by manager Bill Aucoin, who also managed Kiss. Paul

New Noize Weekly - Week of 05.25.22 - Ep477
24/05/2022 Duración: 01h01minWe're back to talk current rock news with the weekly edition of New Noize as we close out May of 2022! There's lots to get to so let's get going! A less-than-credible source has stated that Motley Crue are doing rehearsals with Vince Neil's son in case dear old dad isn't up to the task of the upcoming Stadium Tour. Is this a nothingburger or could there be something to it? We share our thoughts. The tongue-meister himself, Gene Simmons, recently made waves at a KISS soundcheck in Hartford, CT as he donned a bath robe (with nothing under it) in front of fans that paid to be in attendance. Chris made a simple joke post on Facebook for laughs and all hell broke loose. We address the God of Slumber as well as some choice comments from the post on social media. Mental health came to the forefront in a couple of recent stories including the recent death of Black Dhalia Murder's Trevor Strnad as well as an out-of-character moment onstage between Metallica's James Hetfield and his band mates. We talk about both stori

Eric Dover Reflects on Slash's Snakepit 'It's Five O'Clock Somewhere' - Albums Unleashed
11/05/2022 Duración: 01h20minThis week Eric Dover joins us to discuss Slash's Snakepit's 1995 release 'It's Five O'Clock Somewhere.' In 1995, Guns N' Roses were one of the biggest bands in the world; yet one of the most divided. Ongoing tensions between the members of the band would lead to constant delays in new material and the future of the band in limbo. Not one to sit around, Slash was moved to create new material on his own. With the go-ahead from label heads at Geffen Records, Slash started assembling a lineup of players and got right to work. Bringing in fellow Guns members Matt Sorum, Gilby Clarke, and Dizzy Reed as well as the bass talents of Alice in Chains member Mike Inez, he quickly got several songs written and demoed musically. With additional songwriting contributions from Izzy Stradlin and Duff McKagan, the album is loaded with Guns n' Roses attitude and sound; albeit without Axl Rose on vocals. With lots of great music ready to go, Slash needed a singer. After auditioning over 40 others, the job went to former Jellyfis
