Matthew 26:1-30 Two friends, two very different responses, and a call to the Lord’s Table (which, sadly, we will forego this Sunday …see below). And an invitation to trust God when nothing goes according to expectation! This Sunday we’re opening Matthew 26:1-30, if you’d like to read it in advance.

Matthew 24:1-25, 46 This Sunday we delve into a very challenging passage of scripture. The disciples ask Jesus about the end of the age, and Jesus seems to sort of answer their question, or does He? Is He talking about then, the immediate future or a future yet to come? And how do we live now in light of what Jesus is saying?

Matthew 23:1-39 Sometimes Jesus speaks in a stern voice to those having trouble hearing God. How are we to react to this? We’re in Matthew 23 this Sunday. I plan to attempt to recount this event and help us understand and apply Jesus intent by using some theatrical story telling. My intent is not to entertain, it’s to teach via story.

Matthew 22:23-46 We all ask lots of questions, and question-asking is good. But what are the most important questions? And is there one question that trumps all others? What do we get right or what is at risk if we get this question wrong or incomplete? This Sunday we’re in Matthew 22:23-46.

Matthew 21:23-22:14 We will examine the question of authority and the authorities around us, and ultimately we’re going to add a few more layers of paint to our picture of God.

Matthew 21:1-22 What are some of the obstacles that get in the way of us seeing Jesus more clearly? Would things change if you were aware of these obstacles and you invited Jesus to help you see him more clearly? Let's explore these ideas as we look at Matthew 21:1-22.

Matthew 20:17-34 Who are you leading? Someone is always watching. What are they seeing? Jesus brings counter-cultural teaching concerning leadership. I struggle to live it out. Maybe you do too? Let’s look to Jesus again this Sunday and invite the Holy Spirit to instruct us.

Matthew 19:13-20:16 What is the connection between my value, my reward and my net worth? Matthew threads these themes together as he continues to invite us to see Jesus clearly. This Sunday our “2020 Vision …looking to Jesus” series finds us in Matthew 19:13-20:16.

Matthew 19:1-15 We’re trying to understand and see Jesus more clearly, in our new “2020 Vision …looking to Jesus” teaching series on Sundays. Matthew is inviting us to experience Jesus’ teaching on relationships and this week we turn to Matthew 19:1-12 and consider God’s design for marriage, sexuality and family. I would venture that everyone one of us have been personally impacted by divorce …a friend, a family member. You’ve maybe experienced divorce yourself. Let’s not be afraid of Matthew 19. We’ll consider, what is God’s design for marriage? Why is it so difficult? Is there any hope for any of us? What do I do if this subject has torn me up?

Matthew 18:21-25 What’s the deal with forgiveness? I need it! I need to give it! We’re jumping back into Matthew’s Gospel, and will invite the Holy Spirit to teach us from Matthew 18:21-25, as we step into week #2 of “2020 Vision …looking to Jesus”.

Matthew 11:28-30 This Sunday we conclude our “Get A Handel on the Messiah!” teaching series, and will open Matthew 11:28-30 together. What does it mean to live with the light burden Jesus is offering? We think this will be a meaningful way to anticipate the new year together!

Isaiah 9:1-7 “For Unto Us A Son Is Born!” This Sunday we continue to “Get A Handel on the Messiah!”, and will open Isaiah 9:1-7 together. If you’d like to read more, beginning at Isaiah 7 and reading through chapter 9 is very interesting, and will relate to this sermon.

We are continuing to move through our celebrations of the coming of Jesus. This Sunday we’re in Isaiah 60:1-12, a text which encouraged Judah to look forward to the coming of the Christ. Haggai 2:6-7 & Malachi 3:1-3 We are celebrating the second Sunday of Advent as we gather this week for worship. We’re continuing to explore the lyrics behind the music of Christmas, and this week examine “Who Can Abide The Day of His Coming? …can anyone survive when God comes near?”

Isaiah 40:1-5 This is the first Sunday of Advent, the season that leads us into Christmas. This Sunday we will be in Isaiah 40:1-5 … “Comfort Ye My People”, as it is sung in Handel’s Messiah. What is the comfort we are to receive, and what comfort can we genuinely offer the hurting in the world around us? This season we’re looking honestly at the brokenness of our world, and the nature of the hope the Father has brought to us through the gift of the Son.
