As we head into a new year, Psalm 138:2 reminds us that our confidence is found in the fact that God will always be true to Himself.

Have you ever made a long, difficult, tiring climb up a mountain? Remember what it was like when you got to the top. Most likely you were rewarded by an incredibly spectacular view, making the climb totally worth it. That’s what happened for Peter, James and John when they followed Jesus up to the top of a mountain. Instead of a beautiful view of a valley, they saw something way more impressive - Jesus transformed by a dazzling light. John Schaffer walks us through this captivating passage and helps us learn how it’s worth it to follow Jesus up mountains in our own lives.

Myth and Misunderstanding surround these mysterious men from the east. The Magi who visited the Christ Child came to worship the newborn King of the Jews. So too, like these men of old, we come to worship the King at Christmas time.

This morning we focus on the truth that in Discipleship, we work alongside God's powerful grace, believing that He will accomplish His promises in us.

If there's on question most of us ask when we focus in on the topic of growing to Maturity in Jesus, it's HOW?? This morning we find the most magnificent answer...GRACE. Maturity in Christ can be a reality when we work hard with the power God is already working in us.

A final characteristic of Maturity in Jesus is that of obedience. We find that obedience is about far more than checking off a list of do's and don'ts. Rather, obedience is all about imitating, worshipping and loving Jesus.

Growing to Maturity in Christ demands a transformation of our Worldview. Followers of Jesus must possess an ever sharpening Biblical Worldview that is based on scripture and consistent with the person and purposes of God.

Growing into maturity in Christ means that there has been growth in three areas of our life, the first of which is our pursuit of God. This lesson focus' on A Passionate Pursuit of God by examining Psalm 63.

In the middle of a battle is not the best time to try and learn how to fight. Countless hours of preparation are needed to be a good fighter. In life, spiritual and emotional battles are guaranteed. As we focus on discipleship, we must recognize that without a humble character, a desire to learn, a diligent effort and honest accountability, one will never be able to grow to maturity.

Full grown Christian maturity is the development of a Jesus centered lifestyle, evidenced in a passionate pursuit of God, a transformed worldview and obedient living.

A mature Jesus follower is one who has reached a point in their spirit life where they demonstrate a full-grown lifestyle, having completed their basic training an are now living ut the purposes for which they were created.

Continuing in our series on discipleship, we continue by looking at Pauls description of the Four Faces of the Human race. We sum up thoughts by stating that True disciples of Jesus Christ are expected to grow into spiritual maturity through the power of the Holy Spirit in them.

As we head into a new series on Growth, we must keep in mind a very specific truth: A true disciple of Jesus pulsates with continual growth, quickened by the heartbeat of God's grace.

When we recognize that God desires and expects that His people come to understand an know Him as He has revealed Himself in the Bible, it helps us as a body and individually to stay focused on what really matters.

As a closing challenge in our Following Series, we hear Jesus' famous words, "whoever would seek to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will keep it." John 12:20-26 makes it clear that true life comes only through death.

While the demands of following Christ are high, today we find that the rewards are even greater. The morning we focus on the truth that those who give everything in following Jesus, will never out give Him.

The words of Jesus are clear and unhesitating...Following Him costs Everything.

It seems in our age that coming to Christ focus' on the benefits we receive and not the cost we're called to. Jesus regularly made it lear to his disciples that following Him would cost them. This morning we focus on this theme, Following Jesus will cost you...or you're not following Jesus.
