A look at the early church shows us how we should be the church today and what our role should be in it.

From its inception, sin has always been a direct frontal attack on the character of God. While Genesis 3:1-5 relates a conversation between the Snake and Eve, at the focus of the discussion was neither the Snake nor Eve, but God. Therefore, it appears safe to say that at the center of our Sin, is the Character of our God.

Finishing the second chapter of Genesis we find God's hand in the Creation of Eve. After helping Adam to see the situation from His perspective, God creates the perfect ally, comparable to Adam and establishes the first Covenantal Union between Man and Woman.

Ever since the beginning of creation, God's plans have always been to Engage Mankind in His plans, Enabling us to fulfill His desires and commands and Expecting us to follow through submit to His will. The Unique Purpose of Mankind included both dominion over the living creatures and a stewardship of resources of the Earth. We are called to be Stewards of this wonderful creation. Even greater though, our supreme, unique purpose was to intimately enjoy relationship with God.

Mankind was God's crowning creation. We were created with a unique origin and identity. This morning we look at the third way that we are unique over the rest of creation...we have a unique purpose. Mankind was endowed with a unique purpose: we were created to exercise rule over creatures, engage the resources of the earth and enjoy relationship with God.

Our Unique Identity is not found in what we do, but rather, in the profound truth that we bear the image of God.

The origin of the Human Race is not the result of random chance or natural selection, but rather the unique creation of God, brought into existence by His creative word and work.

In Micah 2:13 our God reveals Himself as the Breaker. The Breaker is the King, our Shepherd and Savior who will breech the wall of opposition and captivity to lead us, His people, safely to victory.

If there is one last thought I'd like to leave with my Resonate Family before I move to Lakewood Colorado, it's this: To know God is to reject the temporary and embrace the Eternal.

How often do we read about the 7th day and keep right on going thinking something like, "Yeah, God rested...not sure what that means but I think I'll take a nap Sunday afternoon"? When we take the time to really examine it, we find that the 7th Day is not about what we do on a certain day in the week, but rather, joining God in celebrating what He did and acknowledging what we need.

Sometimes we get so caught up in all the controversy surrounding the contents of Genesis 1 that we forget to consider the actual purpose of the chapter. It's not about giving us the details about creation, although it does. Genesis 1 is more than just a historical narrative about creation…It’s a powerful proclamation about the God who did the creating.

We here at Resonate believe that the written Word of Scripture is God Breathed, error free and unable to err, the complete Divine Word intended for us today. We hold to this position primarily because of the character of our God and the testimony of Jesus, our Savior. There is also a host of supporting evidence to hold this position as well. God brought about the formation of creation through His spoken Word. This word was not just a neutral grouping of vocabulary words, but was the extension of God Himself. Can we believe what Moses wrote in Genesis is accurate? Yes, because it is a Divine Word. We believe that the written Word is the God berthed, error free, complete Divine Word intended for us today.

As presuppositional, young earth theists, to state that God created the world and that it is a relatively young world is not a crazy position held by zealous Jesus people, but a reasonable position, based on God's word and able to account for scientific evidence. We hold this not to shout that we are right...but that our God is the glorious greater of all things.

That the Bible begins with the words 'In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth', clearly communicates that God is on His throne at the center of all things. It means that God exists, He is an active God and His creation has purpose.

As we focus on being In Carlisle For Carlisle, our focus is really on people as individuals. What are we doing to be intentional with the good news of Jesus when it comes to specific individual people? Our strategy can be summed up with one phrase, Pi2 (P - i - squared).

We truly believe that Resonate is In Carlisle, For Carlisle. This simple phrase helps us formulate how we do church at Resonate because like Paul, we want to win those around us for Jesus Christ.
