After about 18 months of following Jesus, these first followers demonstrate that they’re after more. And Jesus begins by calling four of them to not only “follow me”, but to “follow me and fish for men” (Mark 1:16ff). It’s a call to do something, to serve in ministry. And the ones Jesus targets for this call are those who are ”AFT’R” more. The four respond and follow Jesus throughout all of Galilee (Mark 1:39), but after a while they had made their way back to their regular profession. This week we see Jesus renew his call to them to follow him and serve in ministry.
