Respect is earned they say. You can not command respect unless you give it. This we all know and understand, but there is a serious imbalance when it comes to the relationship between aspiring artist and other people in the music industry. Let's remember the first two lines and then apply this to the relationship of the Artist to the DJ, Producer, Promoter, and Consumer. Each of these people are essential to the career of an artist, and most often you will see artist give respect to these very people, only to realize the feeling isn't mutual. The crazy thing is, ALL of these people depend on artist to function. No artist making music, none of them has a job..and as for the consumer, their daily lives will be altered. No music changes the way TV, RADIO, MOVIES, even a RIDE in the CAR or a JOG in the park is experienced. Artist seem to ONLY garner respect AFTER stardom, but this isn't the case with other parts of the game. Sometimes, you have to MAKE people respect your craft and grind by actions...and sometime

So many people will either love or hat this segment. We will get back to the music soon, but since we have become a predominantly music show lately I figure if I talk about music it is pretty much the same. For more then a few years now we have watched the infant that a lot of us love called Hip Hop grow. It has undergone massive facelifts, fights, Identity crisis, yeah it's has had plenty of ups and downs. We are all products of some form of mutation as people, that's basic science. Thus a creation that we created will more then likely change into something once it has been created. This is what has happened to hip hop. It has, and is constantly changing. By using the word "MUTATION" that is what I mean...the MUSIC and the way the MUSIC IS SOLD & BOUGHT is RAPIDLY MUTATING. It seems every week I get some email from some music faction telling me that this or that is the "new wave of music marketing". If it's not that then its the "next big movement" or artist that I should be checking for. I'm constantly hit up about a CHANGE ...a MUTATION  of hip hop.
