Wow man....300 EPISODES! I know that we normally do "ILL or KILL" on WED. but I decided to take this day and reflect on how K-100 Internet Radio has evolved since its conception. What started as a group on Facebook just for people to talk sh** and give their opinion about whatever has turned into something much more. We still have a LONG way to grow...I'm just an infant in the grand scheme of online radio. But when you take into account that there is pretty much ZERO pay for providing this platform for artist to get exposure, connect with new fans and for people to have uncensored conversation about whatever the topic is this is still a milestone. I have wanted to quit doing this before. When I get burned out I just take a week off. But I always come back. Thus the show keeps growing in listeners and popularity. The trial of Lil Boosie has reminded us that if one thing separates Hip Hop artist from any other genre, its the fact that those artist more than ANY others are held to a separate standard when it comes to their lyrics. What a Hip Hop artist says in their music is scrutinized 100xs more then any other, no matter WHAT they say. If they rap about murder and drugs then most people assume they are "Bout Dat Life" (whatever that means!) If they rap about "positive" things they are expected to be nice people in person. How much of an artist true personality and actual lifestyle is portrayed in their music is SOMETIMES the key to their success. In a genre where keeping it real is damn near a commandment, its shocking how many artist who are successful don't play by this rule. As a hip hop artist you often hear "music is a refection of life" thus if an artist is poor and living a hard life you won't expect them to be making "life is great" the theme of their content. Well I said I would start the week off with a talk segment since we ran music al last week. So there has been something that has been on my mind lately and I'm bringing my thoughts and hopefully yours to the airwaves. If you haven't noticed over the past decade, there has been a huge spike in violence being committed by women. Nowadays if a chic says she is "bout that life" it is more of a turn on then a turn off to men. In a world where the roles have become more and more reversed in the household, the demeanor and attitude of the woman has undergone a metamorphosis. I know we have come a long way in women rights, freedom of expression, and a sexual revolution. This is why a SEX TOY store is pretty much a solid investment. But the core of the woman, the LADY inside is suffering as a result. Now we live in an era where we constantly share videos of women fighting and give props to her when she "beat that hoe ass" This is where we are at. Yes we did this segment yesterday, BUT I did not do it last week, and every time I skip a week with no ILL or KILL the inbox gets too full. I HAD TO SPELL IT WITH "PH" TO BE NICE FOR BLOGTALK! THAT'S SOME BULLSH**! Anyway, so I haven't done this segment in MONTHS! Actually I only did it like ONCE but I had so much fun the last time, we are back another installment of "REALLY THOUGH: ERY IN THE WORLD" Basically this is the chance for me and the listeners to vent about the BS we see going on. It's a must that I set off this week a run even more music! I had a music filled weekend, met a lot of folks, shook some hands and continued the grind. I saw A LOT of artist who are hungry and going hard. So why shouldn't we go hard for em? This may in fact be a short week for K-100 since as an artist myself duty sometimes calls and I have to preform, hit the road and more. So I'm going to go ahead and set this week off with some of the best unsigned artist and music around! (UM...I am going to play one song by a signed artist, but he aint blew up yet..VETO POWER..) So then...tonight we are combining TWO shows into ONE! Yes we will continue to discuss the topic that we started last night because a few people hit me after the fact that did not get a chance to speak. There was also a few key points that I did not get a chance to address in the last episode (#284 "INDIE 101: The Good Bad & Ugly of Indie Artist") BUT we have PLENTY of music that needs to be reviewed and possibly added to the rotation here on K-100 Radio. So this will sound more like a FM broadcast..a little talking..a little music...ya know. We will take calls of course to vote on the songs played for "ILL or KILL"  and we will also let people talk about their GOOD BAD AND UGLY experiences and advice about being an INDIE ARTIST. Life as an Indie artist can be great SOMETIMES but to be real it often SUCKS. You really have to love being an artist to tough out this existence. Even if you have other ways to make money (AND YOU BETTER IF YOU WANT TO SUCCEED) once you get in front of that mic you redefine yourself and become the but of jokes and a target for scam artist. Such is life..you signed up for it since being an artist is a choice. FIRST and foremost it is important to separate a true INDIE ARTIST from someone who "just rap or sing a lil bit sometimes" THOSE PEOPLE ARE NOT INDIE ARTIST! This discussion is for SERIOUS ARTIST. IF YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE ONE PROJECT DONE BUT YOU BEEN RAPPING/SINGING FOR OVER TWO YEARS, YOU AIN'T BOUT THIS LIFE! This discussion of to share some of the GOOD BAD and UGLY things you have to deal with as an Indie artist, and hopefully we can actually help some of the newcomers avoid a few pitfalls. Yeah...I still just feel like playing music...you know I could JUST PLAY MUSIC ALL WEEK at this point and not even come close to repeating a single song.
