We bizzack! So I have been on Vacation for like a week...no not like...really a solid week! I knew that I would need to ease my way back into the mix and groove of things, so I decided that cranking up "THE SUBWAY" and just banging out to some music would be the best way to do that. As you well know, we play ALL INDIE music. Music is sent in to us from all over the country and we take it through the gauntlet on our music review segment "ILL or KILL" where the PEOPLE vote on the songs send in. If they get more "ILLs" then "KILLs" they go into our all music rotational segment THE SUBWAY. Very clear and cut. First let my apologize again for the tech issues with EPISODE 278, totally out of my control but still my apologies non the less. Mainly because it interrupted the calls on the ONE segment that REALLY DEPENDS on CALLS to work, "ILL or KILL" the music review show. Basically people send in songs to the show, I play them and then the CALLERS vote on the song, and if it gets more ILL votes the KILL votes, then it gets put into rotation on THE SUBWAY, the ALL MUSIC LESS TALK segment of K-100 Radio. This show is ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC..nothing more or less. We just play track after track of great INDIE MUSIC. No major artist get played on this show, it is STRICTLY for Indie Artist to help them get exposure and gain new fans. People are able to listen to internet radio from ALL OVER THE WORLD so the more artist we play (and HOPEFULLY the ARTIST promote the show since they are on it) the the more people hear the artist music OUTSIDE of their locale. Welcome to K-100 Internet Radio's very own music review segment. Artist send us in music from all over the country, we play it, and the callers on the phone line vote. The goal is to get more "ILL" votes then "KILL" votes, it's pretty much that simple. We normally have callers from all over the nation NOT JUST CALLERS FROM ONE REGION! Thus, your music most often has to be a GOOD SONG ALL AROUND...not just something they may like in your neck of the woods! That is the BEST thing about Internet Radio, all you need is a computer, and in this case a phone line will do, and you can tune in to the live broadcast from ALL OVER THE WORLD. So the WIDE AUDIENCE is pretty much the advantage we have over FM radio (even though they may have more LOCAL listeners total of course) So that's pretty much it, if the song past the test and the callers give it an "ILL" then it has paid the toll to get on "THE SUBWAY:UNDERGROUND RIDE OUT" the all music no talk rotational mix. WE ONLY ACCEPT ORIGINAL MUSIC, NO JACKED INDUSTRY BEATS

Most people would agree that our society, especially in this country is in constant turmoil. If its not economical issues then its racial issues, there is always SOMETHING that is wrong with us as a society of people. There are many vessels that people who want to "fix" or "change" the ills of it all use to get their message to the masses and try to drum up support for their cause. Music is one of those vessels. While i will NEVER agree to the mantra that music can make you do a certain act, I will however say that music is a delivery system that can sway people to think a certain way. Hip Hop music used to be a major delivery method used by artist to try and make people aware of the ills in society that occur in urban neighborhoods, the legal system, and other places here and abroad. But over the years the genre changed and artist like Public Enemy are a thing of the past. The era of the Gangsta and then the Bling era sealed the fate of hip hop to become Party music or music that really just doesn't have any

In the music industry, there used to be a time when everyone's job was just their job. Label's were labels, artist were artist, managers, promoters, producers...everyone had their lane. Then the digital age came and shit changed RAPIDLY. Now everyone feels as though they can do everyone else job because it is not as hard to do...or so it seems. one of the things that the digital age brought about was empowering the Independent artist and also the mentality that artist don't need the labels as much. A spawn of such a mentality is now you see more and more ARTIST who are the head of their OWN labels. Now  it seems, especially in RAP MUSIC that if you want to get on, you don't go looking for the top Label owned by some guy with a degree is music marketing, you go looking for the dude with the biggest chain and entourage. This is what we are seeing now...RAPPERS signing OTHER RAPPERS to deals more and more sometimes with GREAT RESULTS (see Maybach and Young Money) and sometimes with DISASTROUS results. So the que

Nationwide feedback, that is the whole point of this music segment on K-100 Radio. We try to help Indie Artist get exposure for their music, and at the same time let them know what others think of their songs, not just their own crew and friends. Some have felt like their song was killed on the show due to hate, but let me be clear..THIS SHOW IS NOT ABOUT PEOPLE CALLING IN TO HATE OUT YOUR MUSIC!. This is about what the callers HONESTLY feel...we do NOT allow people to ILL a song "just cause you are trying to do something positive" NO..either you LIKE THE SONG REALLY...or you KILL IT. We all are supportive of artist efforts to make music and applaud their hard work, this is just a platform to see what people think of the song not to judge if an artist is wack or should quit. There is a yet ANOTHER case of a black male being gunned down in his youth for no reason. This story has been told so many times in this country that I feel that it actually has made people numb to the severity of it. Frankly, these type of stories happen so often, it sadly comes as NO SURPRISE to me. No matter if it is by the hands of an over zealous policeman, a couple of rednecks in Texas involving a truck and a rope, or the most recent example in Florida involving a self proclaimed neighborhood watchman and a bag of skittles. The last story is the inspiration of this episode, the case of TRAYVON MARTIN. You have heard the facts, which are pretty clean and clear: a young black teenager, Martin, was walking home from a store at 7pm minding his own business, and this obviously racist fake ass neighborhood watch patrolman thought he was suspicions, and a deadly gunshot ensues. See there are SEVERAL things wrong with this case, non the least of which is the gunman is NOT IN JAIL nor has he BEEN CHARGED WITH A

Yes I know...I just did an episode of THE SUBWAY, BUT see the thing is now I have enough music to justify doing this at least TWICE a week instead of ONCE. To be truthful, I REALLY COULD DO THIS SEGMENT EVERY NIGHT OF THE WEEK, and not play the same song twice. Of course, that wont happen, but in my attempt to break new INDIE MUSIC, and really give artist a platform just two hours a week of music simply is not cutting it when I have so many artist to show love to. SO, unless there are pressing issues that need to be addressed on K-100, I will try to do my best to run THE SUBWAY twice a week. This won't happen EVERY week, but I will try to make it happen as much as possible since I only broadcast 4 days a week. Yep, once again the Internet Radio station that is ALL ABOUT INDIE MUSIC is breaking new songs from artist ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY. K-100 INTERNET RADIO's own highly popular music segment "ILL or KILL: INDIE MUSIC REVIEW" airs tonight live! The concept isn't anything new: ARTIST SEND IN MUSIC, WE PLAY IT, THE CALLERS VOTE. It really is that simple, only the music is ONLY from INDIE ARTIST, the artist are from ALL OVER THE COUNTRY, and SO ARE THE CALLERS ON THE LINE. Thus the FEEDBACK and VOTES given are NATIONWIDE. First off, yes I know those two words don't start wit a damn K, i just like how it looked. Second, the title is deceiving, since I'm going to go the hell off on all you people who DON'T care. So now, in the past two weeks, hopefully you are keeping up enough with current events that you basically know what I am talking about when I say KONY 2012. BUT since I know a lot of you spend more time watching Real Housewives the real world news, I'll briefly fill you in. So basically this activist group called INVISIBLE CHILDREN mad a documentary a lil while ago about this pretty brutal African warlord in Uganda named Joseph Kony. They attempted to shed light on his murderous LRA, the name of his "army" that basically kidnaps lil kids, make em fight for his rebellion, murders entire villages, kills their parents and all kinds of other evil shit. So basically he is a bad guy. The documentary was mad by WHITE guys, the guys who started this movement to try and get the US government involved in helping the already corrup

So, basically I have so much music that has been sent in, reviewed and added to the rotation that now I have to crank up THE SUBWAY more frequently. Basically this is just to ensure that the artist who show love to and promote the show get their fair share of spins. There is just no way a single 2 hour show a week is enough for the over 500 songs I currently have from Indie Artist. It just DOES NOT match up! So then, I decided that I will try to have more episodes of THE SUBWAY, the ALL MUSIC LESS TALK segment of K-100 Internet Radio, the one you really should just KICK BACK THROW ON YA HEADPHONES AND VIBE TO!. So much music, MOST GREAT, SOME GOOD, and some..well I don't know what the F*** that callers heard when they gave it an "ILL", but hey they did. In any event, the only way to get onto THE SUBWAY is to send your song in to our MUSIC REVIEW segment, "ILL or KILL" where we play the songs and let the CALLERS vote if its good or wack. If it passes the test, then they have paid the toll to get on THE SUBWAY.

The way this segment works is very simple: WE PLAY MUSIC SENT IN TO US FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY, AND PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY CALL IN AND VOTE ON IT. Now that's the simple explanation. Of course, where it gets COMPLICATED is exactly WHICH song's will be played, since we have A LOT of submissions to the show. Well..that depends on who is on the line, who is Retweeting and Posting on Facebook. You see we TRY to play ALL submissions, but that is literally IMPOSSIBLE to do in a 2 hour show, SO WE PLAY THE ARTIST WHO CALL IN AND GET THEIR PEOPLE TO CALL IN TO THE SHOW. This way we know who REALLY wants it. Now...that doesn't mean the song they sent it will not get KILLED! In fact, we have had some tough callers lately, they are not excusing WACK MUSIC, POOR QUALITY, or SOUNDING LIKE SOMEONE ELSE...all of those have gotten NUMEROUS ARTIST killed on the show lately. For the first time I saw Chris Rocks documentary about black women, their hair, and the hair weave industry titled "GOOD HAIR". In it, Rock explores what the psyche of black women is today when it comes to their hair, and he also explores just how profitable the hair weave industry is. I couldn't help but watch in awe as some of Hollywood leading ladies and entertainers like Nia Long, Eve and more sat in the interview seat and talked. It dawned on me just how important a black womans hair really is to them. When you think about it, there is NOTHING on their body that gets more attention, spent more time grooming, and more money on maintaining. Then there is the fact that MOST of them DO NOT even wear their natural hair. No, MOST of them wear hair weave. And hair weave is expensive....very expensive! The fashion and entertainment industry has shunned the natural hair of black women. It is not considered attractive or profitable to the hair industry. You ever want to beat someone else kids ass? I mean really, you saw a CHILD acting so outrageous that you literally wanted to WHIP THEM, with a belt, your had...anything! But when you saw the CHILD acting this way, and you wanted to correct them, you didn't do it, even though they was CLEARLY acting out of line. You know why you didn't? Because it wasn't YOUR CHILD. So...if you can't guess what inspired this show then you been living under a rock. Yes ladies and gents...we all would love to have our cake and eat it too in almost any situation. In one breath we want to say domestic abuse is wrong, but in the next breath we want to defend people who profit from it by saying "ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE ME". Well I am here to tell you that not only can people pass judgment, they will, and there is nothing you can do about it. So there are a few things that are all tied up into this segment. One is the music industry, one of my specialties. Two is domestic abuse, NOT one of my specialties.
