Sinopsis
Getting into Scripture daily is tough! I recently felt convicted about how low on my priority list spending time with God had become. I made it a priority and through this regular reading, I wanted an outlet to share my thoughts on what I have read. So, for what it's worth, these are my thoughts on Bible verses that I have recently read and had an impact on me.https://www.dailychristianpodcast.com/

(149) Fear
17/08/2018 Duración: 03minMy kids fear bugs, you might be the same :) I talk about fear in this episode, but most importantly the fear of God. Psalms 76:7 "It is you alone who are to be feared. Who can stand before you when you are angry?" Some things are frankly a little silly to fear, then there is God. If you have no fear of Him, you need to learn more about Him. (148) Wrong Success
16/08/2018 Duración: 03minThe only thing worse than failing is succeeding at the wrong things. It is easy for us to get off track and start living life with the wrong perspective or even envying those who are succeeding at the wrong things in life. The author in Psalms here expresses his struggle with this issue. Psalms 73:1-3 "Surely God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart. But as for me, my feet had almost slipped; I had nearly lost my foothold. For I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked." Don't forget the value you have in your relationship with God! Listen in on my thoughts... (#147) God is Big...
15/08/2018 Duración: 04minTrying to explain to my children (ages range between 2 and 7 yrs) how big the United States actually remains quite difficult. We have family that lives a little less than 3 hours from our home and they think that is a long ways away. We are flying out of Michigan to attend a wedding soon and explaining that distance and how & why they have a time difference is near impossible. I explain and am about 90% sure they have no clue what I am telling them. This World is bigger than they can comprehend. John 21:25 "Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written." No matter how we perceive God, He is bigger! He has done more! He love us MORE! Listen in on my thoughts... (146) Peter Recognized
14/08/2018 Duración: 04minYou ever wish you were famous? Maybe when you were younger, now you might prefer to be low key and under the radar. We read about Peter and the struggle he had when he denied Jesus. I'm sure this was a rough time for him, feeling like he let Jesus down. The thing that I like about it, was the fact he was recognized as a disciple of Jesus. Even though he didn't want it at the time. John 18:25-27 "Meanwhile, Simon Peter was still standing there warming himself. So they asked him, “You aren’t one of his disciples too, are you?” He denied it, saying, “I am not.” One of the high priest’s servants, a relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut off, challenged him, “Didn’t I see you with him in the garden?” Again Peter denied it, and at that moment a rooster began to crow." May we not live a life hiding the fact that we are disciples of Jesus... Listen in on my thoughts... Thanks for listening in on this 5-minute episode (#146) and for sharing it with others.

(145) Grades, Sports, and Jesus
13/08/2018 Duración: 05minWhat are the things that really matter in life? It seems strange the things that we put so much emphasis on, doesn't it? I remember stressing about getting good grades in school, then what classes I took in High School, then what college, and I am not confident that any of that really mattered near as much as I thought. I wish now I was equally concerned about my relationship with Jesus. John 15:9-11 "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. ” I think we stress these things because we want to live a life with Joy, when in reality our joy, the complete JOY, comes from Jesus and walking in obedience! (144) Undercover Boss
13/08/2018 Duración: 03minI love watching the Undercover Boss! Secretly because I like seeing the top dog of the company come out and do some real work! LOL! In all honesty, I just have more respect for a CEO who is not "above" cleaning the toilets in his/her company. We read today about Jesus washing His disciples' feet... the lowest job... John 13:15-16 "I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.” Jesus set the example of a humble servant leader, an extremely difficult position to follow through with, but it is our high calling as His disciples. (143) Love is more powerful
11/08/2018 Duración: 03minIt is difficult to love someone when you are looking down on them. Judging can be easy to do. There is something about it that elevates ourselves when we judge others, we sort of look down on them which makes us feel good/better about ourselves. Jesus reminds us that He did not come to judge but to love. The sinner without a relationship with Jesus will one day stand before the Father and be Judged then, us judging them now does not help them with that, but loving them can! John 12:47-48 "If anyone hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge that person. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world. 48 There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day. ” May we be quick to empathize and Love those around us, there is power in Love! (#142) "MINE"
10/08/2018 Duración: 04minRegularly we here our children, almost fight to the death, over a toy. Without exception one or more of them will be screaming "MINE!" This is a little silly for them to get this extreme over the simple toys we have in our house, especially because we have like a million toys for them to choose from. When reading this passage, however, I feel like Jesus says the same thing about us, with much more power and passion. John 10:28-30 " I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all[c]; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” May you be encouraged today, if you have given your life to Jesus, become one of His sheep, you are HIS! No one can snatch you away from Him! Listen in on my thoughts... (141) Unaware
09/08/2018 Duración: 04minI give examples, like usual (this is the stage of life I am in so give me a break), of my children. I feel like I save their lives on a weekly basis (lol). They are just not aware of their surroundings, they do not know better, so keeping them from walking on their own in a busy parking lot or away from the pool when there are no adults present to save their life if they slip in, is necessary at their current ages. They can be in serious danger and not realize it. John 8:33-34 "They answered him, 'We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?' Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.” These Jews were unaware that they were slaves to sin in their lives, this is a dangerous place for anyone to be in, just believing that you are "all set" or everything is "fine" when in reality you are in extreme danger. (140) Bread of Life
08/08/2018 Duración: 03minYou could never eat enough in one day to satisfy you for life. You always get hungry again, usually by the next day. Likewise, we seek things to fulfill our life that, when attained, makes us hungry again. It is important to realize that Jesus is the bread of life, and when consumed, you will never hunger again. John 6:35 "Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. ” Stop, take a moment and think about what you are pursuing in life, is it something that will make you hungry again? Or are you pursuing the bread of life, the author of life, Jesus Christ? (139) Fresh Start
07/08/2018 Duración: 03minI love board games! Mainly when I am winning at them :) In life we are all losing, some of us take longer (or never) figure that out. Sin has separated us from our creator and we cannot live out our purpose apart from Him. Jesus came to give us a fresh start, one that we would not have been able to accomplish on our own. John 3:3 "Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” I hope you are reminded that you have the opportunity for a fresh start, it came at a high price, but you are worth it, so stop dwelling on the past already! (138) God's Family
06/08/2018 Duración: 02minOne of our (my wife and I) favorite things, is our family! What a blessing it is to have! One of the things that stood out to me at the beginning of John was his mention of family. That Jesus came so that we all would have the opportunity to become a part of the family of God! John 1:12 "Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” May you be encouraged to know that you have a father in heaven that loves you and a family of brothers and sisters in the faith regardless of your bloodline, you have been adopted into a family that loves you, even though it too can be dysfunctional. (137) Assume the best in others
05/08/2018 Duración: 02minIs it more natural for you to assume the worst in people or assume the best? The answer to that is typically dependent upon your past and the impact of your past and current relationships. We see in this passage how assuming the worst can backfire. 1 Chronicles 19:1-3 "In the course of time, Nahash king of the Ammonites died, and his son succeeded him as king. David thought, “I will show kindness to Hanun son of Nahash, because his father showed kindness to me.” So David sent a delegation to express his sympathy to Hanun concerning his father. When David’s envoys came to Hanun in the land of the Ammonites to express sympathy to him, the Ammonite commanders said to Hanun, “Do you think David is honoring your father by sending envoys to you to express sympathy? Haven’t his envoys come to you only to explore and spy out the country and overthrow it?” May you be encouraged to live a life that assumes the best in people, even though there will be times you are let down.

(136) Humility
04/08/2018 Duración: 04minWow, we have been so blessed. Helping our kids understand that I can literally take away anything they have at any time is tough for them. They take ownership of their toys very quickly. Essentially, I want them to be humble and recognize that all that they have has been provided to them. 1 Chronicles 17:16 "Who am I, Lord God, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far?" David lived in thanks and humility, he knew that the Lord had blessed him and he lived his life like he knew it. (135) Sing
03/08/2018 Duración: 03minI love it when I hear my 7 yr old sing, well any of my children for that matter, she just does it more often. She doesn't need a song to sing because she can freestyle whenever, on cue. To be honest I don't think she is going to win any awards but it brings me joy to hear her. 1 Chronicles 15:22 "Kenaniah the head Levite was in charge of the singing; that was his responsibility because he was skillful at it." David had assigned someone to be "in charge" of singing. It was an important part of what they did to honor the Father. May we not underestimate the joy we can bring to God in heaven with our praise! (134) Pleasing who?
02/08/2018 Duración: 03minA great question to be asking ourselves... Who is it we are trying to please? 1 Chronicles 13:2 "He then said to the whole assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you and if it is the will of the Lord our God..." 1 Chronicles 14:10 "so David inquired of God..." 1 Chronicles 14:14 "so David inquired of God again, and God answered him..." David lived a life constantly seeking God's will for his life, he wanted to live a life pleasing the Father. (133) Mighty Men
01/08/2018 Duración: 04minWe read today through 1 Chronicles 11&12... As a man, this really fires me up. David lists out those "Mighty Men" and to hear there bravery and courage gets me motivated. Where are all the MIGHTY MEN today? The ones fighting the spiritual warfare... The ones with courage and make decisions based on integrity and honor and NOT ON FEAR... The ones praying for their families and communities... The ones standing up for those who are not strong enough to stand on their own... I want to be among these men. (132) God's Patience
31/07/2018 Duración: 05minDo you have any moments you can think of where you lost your cool? I share a story of getting out of my car in anger after 4-hour traffic jam. My wrath is not anything near that of God's, He is so powerful and nothing can compare. The very fact that Jesus has not returned as scripture tells us is due to His patience for those who are not yet believers 2 Peter 3:8-9 "But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord, a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." (131) Not Dead Yet
30/07/2018 Duración: 04minSo many people look forward to retirement, and rightly so. Being able to accomplish so much in the workplace and then be able to enjoy your life without the need for work. The temptation then is to also step aside from ministry and church when this should be the time you step in and encourage! You have so much life experience and wisdom to help the next generation lead. 1 Peter 5:1-3 "To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed: Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock." (130) Not what they deserve...
29/07/2018 Duración: 03minHow do we treat others? We are called to be compassionate and to love those around us. "How we treat others should be a reflection of who we are, not what they deserve" It is easy to treat people the way they treat you. Those who treat you good, we want to treat well also. Those who treat us poorly, we naturally want to return the favor. 1 Peter 3:8-9 "Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.
