    17/03/2020 Duración: 36min

Matthew 7:7-11 In times when we have a hard time feeling and believing that God is good, a simple and daily practice of gratitude is the door to the Father's heart. A couple weeks ago, I preached at a sister church on how giving thanks connects us to the goodness of God. When we give thanks, we receive God's good gifts, his presence with us, and his loving care. You can practice "God, thank you for _______" prayers in your evening devotions. We've also created a guided prayer time for an end of day Gratitude Examen you can find below: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Bdq0EOrLXMv5Kw1lrKQEGkqYk1PPeewxnn3dwGg9w0A/edit?usp=sharing

  • WK7 Loving One Another (4:17-32) — Pastor Eduardo Dávila

    07/03/2020 Duración: 35min

WK6: Loving One Another (Ephesians 4:17-32) “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” SUMMARY: Unity requires transformation––the kind of transformation that occurs when we are united to Christ in his death and resurrection. Through Christ, we die to our former selves and the practices that divide (bitterness, gossip, slander, etc.), and come alive our new life in Christ and the practices that bring unity (encouragement, kindness, forgiveness, etc.). DISCUSSION: Are there habits of your “old self” that you find yourself continually returning to? How have these habits contributed to the wall of hostility (Eph 2:14)? Are there any habits of sin you need to confess today? What are corresponding practices of the “new self” that lead to transformation in Christ? How has Christ demonstrate

  • Reading the Bible As Sons and Daughters (2:19-20) — Bishop Stewart Ruch III

    23/02/2020 Duración: 40min

Ephesians 2:19-20 As Christians, we read the Bible by ourselves, but we are never meant to read the Bible alone. We read the Bible as sons and daughters of our Father in heaven and as sons and daughters of the church. We read the Bible as part of a global and ancient family filled with the stories of God.

  • WK5: More Than We Can Imagine (3:1-21) — Pastor Trevor McMaken

    16/02/2020 Duración: 33min

Ephesians 3:1-21 The mystery of the gospel is that it unites all peoples in God’s house by grace as siblings with him as our Father. We know the breadth of God’s love when we glimpse the breadth of his family. Because we can’t imagine reconciliation like that, Paul asks the Spirit to enlarge our imaginations to dream the dream of God. Revelation 7 is one picture of that future fulfillment.

  • WK4: A Diverse and Unified Family (2:11-22) — Pastor Eduardo Dávila

    05/02/2020 Duración: 36min

Ephesians 2:11-22 “But now in Christ Jesus, you who were once far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.” SUMMARY: Through the blood of Christ, God has torn down the dividing wall of hostility between peoples and nations––Christ himself is the source of peace between those who were formerly at war with one another. In Christ, we have reconciliation with God and with one another. DISCUSSION: Are there divisions between groups of people in your community, your neighborhood, your city? What is the source of the enmity between them? What emotions do these divisions invoke in you? How do you think God feels about them? How does the reconciliation of Christ speak to those divisions? Is there a concrete way in which God might be calling you to be an instrument of his peace? What commitment can you make right now to Jesus to foster reconciliation in your community?

  • WK3: Union in Christ (2:1-10) — Pastor Trevor McMaken

    01/02/2020 Duración: 33min

Ephesians 2:1-10 1. We were dead in sin; but now we are alive in Christ 2. We were following the broken society; but now we are following a loving Father 3. We were enslaved by satan, but now we are adopted by God “To be in Christ is to be personally and vitally united to Christ, as branches are to the vine and members to the body, and thereby also to Christ’s people. For it is impossible to be part of the Body without being related to both the Head and the members...to be a Christian is in essence to be ‘in Christ’, one with him and with his people.” Stott 22-23 God exists as three persons in loving union so deep they are one person. Division goes against the very nature of who God is—Father, Son, and Spirit. "I am in my father, and you in me, and I in you." John 14:20

  • WK2: Adopted into God’s Household (1:1-14) — Pastor Trevor McMaken

    23/01/2020 Duración: 38min

What does it mean to be adopted into the family of God? What type of Father is this? Why would he offer adoption to us? "The Father invites all people to be adopted as sons and daughters so that we can know his love and kindness for eternity!" If God our Father adopts us into his family, then we are called to adopt. Not everyone is called to adopt, but what if the question changed from, “Lord are you calling us to adopt,” to “Lord, is there any reason that we shouldn’t?” Henri Nouwen in Bread for the Journey writes, "Sons have to become fathers; daughters have to become mothers. Being children of God involves growing up and becoming like God." Our union as family comes from our union with our Father in Christ. The only thing that prevents sibling rivalry and division is a deep security in our identity as children of the Father.

  • WK1: Many Peoples, One Family, One Father (Acts 19) — Pastor Trevor McMaken

    17/01/2020 Duración: 37min

The message of Ephesians is that many peoples are reunited as one family with one God and Father over all. We believe God is inviting us into this study to give us a deeper vision for unity, diversity, and maturity in our church. Chapters 1 - 3 Receiving Union with God and Union with One Another Chapters 4- 6 Living Union with God and Union with One Another In the family of God, we live lives of union not division. Maturity is living in unity like our Father and Jesus our brother. Unity is a sign of maturity and unity is impossible without maturity. This is not a new destination, but a new part of the journey. It’s somewhere that we haven’t been but it’s where we have been going. We’re bringing clarity to that. Why are we focusing on diversity? 1. Because everyone is invited to be adopted into the family of God 2. Because everyone in the family of God is a brother or sister 3. Because unity in diversity brings a sacramental gospel witness. 4. Because the Holy Spirit has been leading us in this way for ye
