EVER!, co-hosted by Jerry McMullen, is a weekly show looking at comics, movies, and TV shows with reviews, previews, and interviews. In this issue, the X-Men meet their arch-enemy, Ant-Man has a giant problem to deal with, the Hulk makes a quick exit from the Avengers, Peter Parker makes a move on Betty Brant, Iron Man gets fitted for a new suit, and the Fantastic Four fight a Nazi. 

Sooooo, seen any good movies lately? We are here to sing the praises of Black Panther! This is the new standard for all comic-book movies - a beautiful, well-acted film which left the audience thinking and talking and going back to see it again and again. By our humble estimation, the only thing that could have made this movie better was finding a way to include Nicholas Cage into this soon-to-be masterpiece.  But before we can talk about the movie, we have some con recaps to share with you. We have finally rested up after the epic 2018 Planet Comicon, and have all kinds of stories to share with you. The panels, our friends, and most importantly our work for the Hero Initiative. What a weekend! The guys from the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! stayed busy all weekend long at Planet Comicon. We hosted some comic panels, raised some funds for the Hero Initiative, had some BBQ, crashed a party or two, found some comics... did we do anything else? OH YEAH, WE HOSTED ANOTHER LIVE PANEL AT PLANET COMICON! All three of us on stage together, making jokes, telling stories, and answering questions.  So sit back and give the show a listen. Happy Comicon Eve, Kansas City! We are a day early this week, so consider yourself the lucky winner! We've got a lot to do ahead of the start of the show tomorrow, so we are going to get things going with the podcast today! Before we can get into Planet Comicon, we've got to wrap things up with Cullen's recap of I Like Comic Con last weekend in Vancouver, WA. If you've read any comic books over the last 30 years, odds are you have read a Ron Randall issue or two along the way. From Conqueror of the Barren Earth to Justice League International to Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire and most recently Future Quest, Ron's pencils and stories have covered every possible genre there is.  But the one book he is most associated with is his own creation, Trekker, which is the ongoing adventures of bounty hunter Mercy St. Clair. Since the late 1980s, Ron has been telling Mercy's story at Dark Horse Comics.  Ron has a new set of Trekker stories to get out, and he has a Kickstarter launching on February 20 to make that happen. The work is done; the Kickstarter is to cover the publishing costs, so you will see the finished product if you support this initiative. By the time you read this, we will be just two weeks away from the start of the 2018 Planet Comicon. We are so ready for this to get started. Our bags are packed, books to be autographed have been pulled out, and bail money has been set aside. We love comics and we love creators who take their visions and dreams and bring them to life outside of the traditional publishing processes. This week we interviewed Adam Watson to talk about his project, Ghost Assassin, and the ongoing Kickstarter campaign. Ghost Assassin is the tale of a hitman-for-hire who has the ability to see and interact with ghosts. Unfortunately for David the ghosts are the people he's murdered. Adam's journey to bring this book to life has taken some wild turns and his marketing and distribution channel plan is just what the comic industry is needing right now. (hint: What are you reading at the tattoo shop while you get inked?) The art for this project is handled by Joel Cotejar and Charles Carvalho with coloring by Edward Bola and Gulliver Silva.  The cover for issue #1 is penciled by Joel Cotejar with coloring by Ceci De La Cruz. Adam will be at I Like Comicon February 10 - 11 with merch and information about the project and the Kickstarter campaign runs through February 21st.

It's good to be Cullen in February. See, he gets a three week run that month of attending a con each weekend. First up is I Like Comic Con which will be in Vancouver, WA, on February 10 & 11. For it being a first-year show, the guest list reads like a Who's Who of comic royalty. Jim Steranko, Neal Adams, Gail Simone, Ron Randall, Howard Chaykin, James O'Barr and the list keeps going. To get everything set up for the con, Cullen sat down with show owner Chris Simons to get all of the details for the show coming up soon! Of course, we will welcome Cullen back to Kansas City for Planet Comicon February 16-18. Tune back in next week, same Bat Time, same Bat Channel, to get all of the details for Kansas City's biggest convention. And if you pay close attention, you may start seeing some announcements this weekend for Cullen to appear at Comics Fest in Hillsboro, OR, on February 24 & 25. The calendar may now read 2018 but we are not done talking about 2017. With that year FINALLY over, we look for the best of the best - the best single issue, the best ongoing series, the best TV series and the best movie! It's a Hollywood-focused episode from the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! this week. Not to fear, we do get some comic talk in throughout the show. Now, we record on Wednesday nights, so at the time of this recording, the Disney acquisition of Fox was still just a speculation. Since then, the deal has gone through and we can soon hope to see an Avengers vs. X-Men sometime during Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Anyway, we offer our somewhat-dated thoughts as to what this might mean for the Marvel film franchise. Then we turn our attention over to DC, and the reported shake-up in their film brain trust due to the un-Avengers like performance of Justice League.  Next, we do a rundown of some possible gift ideas for the comic-loving geek in your life. Especially if you are that comic-loving geek. It's OK to pick up something for yourself. The longest-running, lowest-rated podcast in our market.  On our show this week, we dive into Batman Annual #2 from Tom King, Lee Weeks, and Michael Lark. I think this one all touched us in a special way - but not in a Congressional way. Seriously though, this is a spectacular issue with tremendous art to compliment a comic book love story.  Sticking with DC, we discuss the recent promotions for the New Age of DC Comics, a line of books launching in early 2018. What intrigues us is the artistic talent being listed first in the credits ahead of the writers.  The guys go over some recent reads, and we take a quick look back at Milestone Comics, which was recently featured on AMC's Secret History of Comics. So how was your weekend? Because ours was pretty incredible! John got hugs from Doug Jones, Jerry chatted it up with a not-so-silent Silent Bob, and Cullen found a motherlode of Who's Who issues in a Portland dollar box. In this episode, we chat up all things Kansas City Comic Con and Frankenstein's Comic Swap. We go over our panels, including the incredible WCPE panel which can be found in our podcast feed next week. We talk about the friends we saw throughout the weekend, and the new friends we met along the way. John did do some work along the way, getting out the recorder to talk to Doug Jones, one of the stars of Star Trek: Discovery. Despite some technical glitches, the guys made it work for a quick interview with a truly wonderful person.
