I know this might cut out a few of my listeners. If you are not 30 yet you will be hopefully one day, and if you are past them, you still might have friends or kick it with someone who is. All things considered since I know who actually listens and call my show, which are people in between the age of 25 and 40, I should be good! So let me get to the point. Well this week is Halloween, and so keeping with the Holiday Spirit I want to have a little fun for this EPISODE. Have you ever been really terrified? I mean really had the SHIT scared out of you? In case some of my listeners don't know, I am a P.K.(PREACHERS KID). Yes, shocking isn't it? Then again some people would say my life reflects EXACTLY what a PK and any other kid that was raised up going to church a lot is like when they grow up. The total opposite of what they were told to be by their parents. You see sometimes you can be given too much of a good thing. I think this is REALLY the case when raising kids up in church. LET ME BE CLEAR, I love my moms for giving me spiritual guidance and teaching me good moral behavior. But there is a difference between going to church a few Sundays and going 3 to 4 days a week ALL YEAR ROUND. Some people over do it when it comes to making their kids attend church, and it has the reverse effect. You know how they say "church girls be the worse ones", well it's because they are so over protected and scrutinized that once they get out and away from that atmosphere, they feel like finding out what they have been missing, even if it's bad. I have always felt like I was accepted for who I am. I never felt the need to be apart of some orginization that makes me jump through hoops in order to be called "brother" or "member". The closest I came to that was BOOTCAMP, but that was more like trying out for a sports team, more like a physical and aptitude test for a PAYING job. So I have never understood the FRATERNITY or SECRET SOCIETY community. I want to be clear, I am not bashing those that are apart of them. To me there is a sense of need for group acceptance that goes with joining one of theses. I'm sure they have benefits like lifelong friends, and hook ups that only a member can get, so it has its privelages. But some groups, like the Masons and Fraternal order of (insert whetever here), and college fraternitys are so secretive it kind of makes you suspicious. The CIVIL RIGHTS movement could NEVER happen in this day and time. Not because if left unchecked the powers that be wouldn't have kept things how they were, but because this generation of black people just don't give a damn enough to make it happen. It's astounding just how apathetic some black people are about politics, especially voting. The nomination and election of OBAMA was a shot of adrenaline for us, like a quick revival in politics, but it wasn't actually a political surgery of sorts to permanently repair the apathetic black voter. With the upcoming elections in NOVEMBER, I see more and more signs that things need to be ramped up, that the establishment is fighting hard to REVERSE the effects that OBAMA's win had on us. There are so many changes we can go through physically.Often times it may be self inflicted neglect. Sometimes there are outside events that cause a dramatic change in our physical appearance. We all want to be beautiful but it simply doesn't work that way. Sometimes we can't control these physical changes, but more than not we can! Divorce. It can be super ugly. In fact 9 times out of 10 its pretty much guaranteed to be. I mean its a DIVORCE! A premature ending to what was meant to be a life long contract between two people. Today a divorce is so common it makes you really think hard about getting married in the first place. So my question is, do you think divorce is morally right? In some countries they kill you for it. There are so many shades of color when it comes to our people. But these beautiful colors can have some not so pretty stereotypes attached. You know back in the day the light/dark issue was rooted in slavery. The dark skinned slaves were field workers and the light skinned ones where house workers. Throughout the history of this country there has been an internal struggle amongst people of color that is almost as bad as the way some white people treated us. You ever heard someone say "you black ass such and such" to a dark skinned person? Um...you are black too right? Ever hear someone say "she/he think she all that cause they light skinned"? Crazy but it still happens. So what are some sterotypes that you feel are attached to the different shades? Do you trust a fair skinned black person more than a dark skinned one? Which one do you find more attractive? Do you prefer a certain shade over the others, and if so, WHY!? Is one shade completely out of the question as far as romance is concerned, and if so WHY!?
