  • SFC Super Pod 2- Christmas Special

    20/12/2018 Duración: 40min

Welcome to the second ever installment of the Total Saints FC Dellivery Podcast, Christmas Edition.  Ben, John and I got together (and by got together I mean I sat in the California sun on a Skype call) to answer your questions, talk a little bit about the podcasts and discuss Saints, with a side of Christmas cheer.... I really enjoy hosting the show, but I feel like I'm a very bad guest.    As always, thanks for listening to and supporting the show. It really is a pleasure and an honor to be able to do the show each and every week.   We'll have a regular episode next Tuesday (yes, I know it's Christmas day, but my OCD won't let it go) and we'll be back on schedule after that- hopefully with Saints giving it a go as well!   Be sure to follow John and Ben and their shows, and remember that together, we march on! • Ep. 101- Free Beer, 5 Goals, and 3 Points, with Zachary Coopersmith

    18/12/2018 Duración: 01h13min

Imagine not having access to Saints for 4 months. You go away, don’t have a lot of time for the internet, or TV, or the Premier League or anything like that. Now, tune in on Sunday and see the manner of the performance against Arsenal. It would be completely mind blowing. You would think the changes to the squad must have been a slow evolution over that four months…   That’s not exactly how Zach Coopersmith’s (@moamfanzachary - Instagram) journey was, but he was on a boat for 4 months, and now he’s off the boat, been to the MLS Cup Final, watched Saints get their second league win of the season, and their first win at home since my kids were born (slight exaggeration, maybe). Join us and give his pages a follow! • Ep. 100- A New Man and a New Plan, with Matt Beling of the We Are Southampton Page

    11/12/2018 Duración: 01h25min

This is episode 100. 100 straight weeks of planning, arranging, recording, editing, mixing, producing and distributing an episode of the show. When all the math is done, it comes out to just over 20 full days of work. Almost a month of my life, 1/24 of my time over the last two years has been spent doing this thing I love so very much. This COULD NOT and WOULD NOT happen without the support of so many of you. So I’d just like to say thank you to all of you who have listened and shared, reviewed and rated, and provided feedback. To all the guests who have come on, somewhere in the neighborhood of 90 different people, this is as much about you as it is me. So, in short, thank you! For this milestone episode I’m joined by Matt Beling of the We Are Southampton page on Instagram (@wearesouthampton). Matt was one of the first people to be made aware of the podcast when it was being put together. He’s done the logos for the show (including the new Patreon only podcast feed logo), he’s given my feedback and he’s be

  • Ep. 99- Sparks Fly at St. Mary's, with Dan Hargraves of The Saints View and Talk Saints

    04/12/2018 Duración: 01h13min

Sweet Dream, or a beautiful nightmare… really depends on how you view it. Hughes is out… announced, conveniently, after the show was recorded. But, it’s all part of what happens. Dan Hargraves joined me to discuss the matches against Leicester and United, and to look ahead to some of the fixtures coming between now and January. Also, we fired the manager…. After we recorded, did I mention that? Did I mention I stated he would be safe? Yeah, things went well.   Anyway, Dan was great and you should get involved with some of the projects he is involved with. They are below. • Ep. 98- Paying the London Price, with Dan James

    27/11/2018 Duración: 01h03min

Dan James is, in my eyes at least, pretty remarkable. I first contacted him over the summer of 2017, while walking around the backyard of my in-laws trying to find guests for the show without my wife realizing that the real reason I wasn’t in the pool with the kids was because I wanted the next 6 guests lined up before I “enjoyed” myself (after writing that I realize, nobody needs to know that… and in reality nobody cares). But, from that one message, he agreed to come on the show in September and I was blown away by his commitment to the cause.   Fast forward to April, when I was over in London, and after a battering at the London Stadium, Dan met Freddie (from the Ugly Inside) and I for a few beers after the match near Waterloo Station… It may not sound like a lot to you, but it meant a lot to me and it’s something I will forever associate with Dan… that and the fact he’s attended almost 200 consecutive competitive Saints matches (and still made time to chat with me about Fulham).   This week we talk a

  • Ep. 97- We Are One Club, with Becky Harris of the Southampton Women's Football Club

    20/11/2018 Duración: 59min

It’s almost Thanksgiving here in the USA. It’s my favorite time of year, it’s better than Christmas or Halloween, or even Easter. It’s a time to reflect, a time to remind ourselves of all that we have that is good, and a chance to surround ourselves with those people we love the most.   When I spoke with Becky Harris, senior player for the Southampton Women’s Football Club and current reserves player, the way she spoke about the team and how they were there for each other when the club was going through tough times, how the pushed each other to get better, and encouraged one another to get better, it just reminded me of exactly what a team should be, and who we should surround ourselves with. Becky and I spoke about a lot of things, from her family and sports growing up, to playing football, the gym, work, life, and more, but the one thing that stood out, the one thing I really took away from the time we spent on Skype, was just how special the club is.   I hope you enjoy the conversation as much as I di

  • Ep. 96- Now There's Less Reed, with Tim Marshall

    13/11/2018 Duración: 01h17min

This week Tim Marshall joins me to reflect on the past week at Saints. Tim, who’s been on the show before, kindly joined me last minute, when my scheduled guest woke up ill (ps. Hope you get better soon, very much looking forward to having you on soon)! Tim jumped in and we recorded a show that had a lot to break down. Considering the week that was with Les Reed departing, Martin Hunter leaving, Ralph Krueger’s interview with Adam Leitch and more. Then, we get to the actual match against Watford, where some sort of Sunday League Referee wound up on the pitch and made a mess of it all. Tim and I also discussed the events that took place ahead of Remembrance Sunday, with the enhanced focus on WWI and the contribution of Southampton as a city, as the day of recording marked 100 years since the end of hostilities. In all, I hope you enjoy the show, despite the long length, and we’ll be back next week with more. Follow Tim on Twitter @timjmarshall and on Instagram at the same handle.   Movember Support- visit

  • Ep. 95- You'll Never Guess How This Ends, with Aydin Osman

    06/11/2018 Duración: 01h10min

First things first, this week’s episode contains some adult language. I’ve beeped it (at least most of it), but be warned. Moving on...I’m not really a “win at all costs” type of person. But I am, without a doubt, someone who believes in working your absolute tail off, day in and day out, putting in extra time to improve and get better each and every day. To the point where I find it easier to criticize someone like Pogba over Shane Long. In fact, I’d take Long on my team over Pogba all day. I know it doesn’t make any sense at all, and it might be petty and stupid and short sighted, but there are some things I respect and some things I can’t and won’t tolerate… with that said, my goodness do we need to score some goals, and play defence, and really just get things sorted out. The display at the Etihad was atrocious, and the team desperately need to turn things around.   This week I spoke with Aydin Osman who was at the match, and we discuss it, take some questions, regarding the team, and the management,

  • Ep. 94- We Drew With Newcastle But It Doesn't Really Matter, with Conor Dunford of @_Playmakersfc and prostamerika.com

    30/10/2018 Duración: 01h08min

This week I talked with Playmakers FC Podcast host, and Prost Amerika writer, Conor Dunford. We spoke just after a disappointing draw at home to Newcastle. The 5th consecutive match in which Saints failed to score. A match where the team denied him press access and dropped points to the side entering the day on the bottom of the table. It was, in part due to other circumstances in my life at the time, a hard podcast to record. And, none of it matters. Not the result, not Saints’ table position. Nothing. We recorded all of this before he or I knew anything of the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of 5 people after Leicester City’s draw at home to West Ham. It put things into perspective, but that perspective doesn’t exactly show up on the podcast, and I just want to be very clear that we recorded the podcast without any knowledge of the crash. Since then, I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to take my dad and my so to game 5 of the World Series, where the Red Sox clinched the title over the Dodger

  • Ep. 93- A Vital(ity) Point, with Sam Cox of Fresh Saints

    23/10/2018 Duración: 53min

**Note: I beeped out a word towards the end of the show. It led to a longer conversation, but I cut it entirely. Blame it on me being American. Cheers, I mean bye, I mean enjoy the show.*** Saints got a point on the road, and the debate over whether it’s a point gained or two dropped is still up for debate. I know how I feel, but I got mixed messages from fans and listeners on social media following Saturday’s match at the Vitality Stadium. Feel free to let us know your feelings, by the way. Still interested in your perspective, even as focu shifts a bit to Newcastle. Joining me on the podcast this week to discuss the match, the team selection, its impact, writing and more is Sam Cox of Fresh Saints. You probably know Fresh Saints and will likely have seen their match reviews in The Daily Mail and have visited their site freshsaints.com. Sam contributes and writes and edits and all of that for Fresh Saints and other sites, and is a longtime Saints’ fan.   He brings a good deal of perspective to the podcas

  • Ep. 92- Live from the Halfway Line, with Amie Barnett of the Southampton Women's Football Club

    16/10/2018 Duración: 01h04min

The thought of not having club football for one weekend seems to send most fans into a bit of fit. I’ll be honest, when that weekend comes, it does feel like something is missing. It drags on a bit, especially when you are playing well. But, that feeling of missing something, of not being able to have something you enjoy and look forward to is so much greater for an athlete who is forced to miss multiple months through injury.   That helps frame just some of the conversation I had this week with Amie Barnett. Amie has been a member of Southampton Women’s for 10 years. Over that time she’s seen the club struggle and thrive. She’s worked with a number of dedicated managers and teammates, all of whom she admires and spoke highly of. The club has seen success in recent years, and we discussed that, her early career, the role football played in her life while growing up, and her plans for the future. We also discuss our collective fear of crossing the halfway line. It’s really, really scary, and we discuss why n

  • Ep. 91- Is This a Joke? With Tom Deacon, Saints FC Fan, Comedian, Presenter and More

    09/10/2018 Duración: 01h11min

There are some opportunities that may only come once in a lifetime. I’ve had the wonderful pleasure of hosting and speaking with a number of people on this show. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 80-90 different voices on the club have been aired on this show. Some happy, others sad, some critical, others full of praise. From former players to public figures to people I now consider friends, it’s been great. Speaking to other fans is the best part of doing this. And with all that said, this week is special. I had the opportunity to speak with Tom Deacon, comedian, presenter, podcast host and pretty much just all around amazing guy. I can honestly say I wish I had more time with him. I wish I could have gotten more into his comedy and life, but we were here to talk about Saints, and about his work with them and being a fan, and what it’s like when those two things overlap. That’s what we have here. I hope you enjoy it.   Thanks to Tom for making time for us to chat and sorry you had bus replacement home.

  • Ep. 90- Dancing with Wolves, with Yasmin Wiseman

    02/10/2018 Duración: 01h01min

This week on this show I’m joined by Yasmin Wiseman, a long-time, dedicated Saints fan and a member of the Saints Voice Panel. So, the day after Wolves, after the long ride, the disappointment of the match, the late arrival home and despite not feeling well, she joined me. And it was great. It was great just to talk to her about her life supporting Saints, the team, the good times and the bad. I asked about a lot of things, I forgot to ask about others, and I’m sure next time I’ll a better job. As for Yasmin, she was great, and I think you’ll enjoy the chat. Be sure to give her a follow @MissYjw1 on Twitter and Instagram @MissYjw1. Also, there may be a few curse words in this week’s episode (beeped out, of course), but just know they are in there. • Ep. 89- The Reds Leave Us Singing the Blues, with JJ Hughes of St, Mary's Musings

    25/09/2018 Duración: 01h11min

Richard Brereton, you have won a copy of "Being a Saint" from last week's guest.... DM me your address and we'll get it shipped out ASAP! Thanks to everyone who participated! Saints made the long trip to Anfield and back with nothing to show. A mistake-filled performance against a supremely talented Liverpool side showed why each are where they are in the table. Liverpool have more wins than Saints have points. Saints failed to close down a cross, mark their opposite number on a corner, and help their goalkeeper by coming to clean a shot off the crossbar. We’ve seen these types of things before, and now we’re left with familiar questions from previous years. The mentality of the team, the quality in the squad, the leadership capabilities of management, and more. Joining me to discuss all of that and more on this week’s show is JJ Hughes, editor of St. Mary’s Musings. JJ’s been here before and will be back on again, and he also writes about MMA, if you are into that sort of thing. Luckily he wasn’t sat rings

  • Ep. 88- Being a Saint, with Richard Walters

    18/09/2018 Duración: 01h03min

Alright, alright, we’re up 2-0… okay, 2-1 now, but it’s only stoppage time left… and there’s a penalty… Oh… oh! Oh nooooo! We drew 2-2, at home to Brighton. Cool. That’s all I have to say about that for now. But, as far as this week’s episode goes, we had plenty to talk about. I spoke with Richard Walters, author, businessman, and life-long follower of Saints, about his new book Being a Saint: The Pain, Passion and Pleasure of being a Southampton FC Fan. The book is brand new and is the latest in a long line of books Walters has authored. It may be his first book dedicated to Saints, but it’s a long time in the making and packed full of history, stories, insight and more. To get your copy of the book head over to richardwaltersauthor.co.uk and get your copy, and if you’d like the chance to win a free copy of the book, head over to Twitter, like the tweet pinned on my page (from 1:30pm BEST Tuesday, 9/18), and give Richard a follow (@RWaltersauthor). We’ll announce the winner on next week’s show.   As alw

  • Ep. 87- Interruptions, Injuries, and Confidence, with Emma Pinner of the Southampton Women's Football Club

    11/09/2018 Duración: 56min

This week I am happy to bring you my conversation with Emma Pinner (@EPinner7), a striker for the Southampton Women’s Football Club. If you have been around and listening to the podcast for a while, you will know that from time to time I get the chance to chat with the players and coaches of the Southampton Women’s Football Club. I’m fortunate to have the chance to learn about the players, their careers, their habits and goals, and it brings me great pleasure to be able to share some of those conversations with you on the podcast. If you do not already support a women’s team in the Southampton area, I encourage you to take some time on a Sunday (or midweek sometimes) and watch the girls play. They are passionate, talented, organized and a joy to support!   Emma and I talked about her career, her goals for the season, her injury last year and we also took some questions from her teammates and others on Twitter. We were also interrupted about 100 times, by the dog, and my daughter, and the recorder running lo

  • Ep. 86- Grounding the Eagles and Bringing Down the Gulls, with Alex Hammond

    04/09/2018 Duración: 01h02min

Saints had quite a bit to celebrate this week, with two wins and two clean sheets in two chances, a number of members called up for international duty, and what seems some budding partnerships on the pitch, the mood and feeling are about as positive as they have been in over a year (maybe excluding the win of Swansea, but that was more relief, I think).   Joining me to discuss the win over Brighton in the Carabao Cup and the victory over Crystal Palace in the Premier League is Alex Hammond (@saintshammond). Alex has been on the show in the past and is now working as a member of Eastleigh FC’s media team. We talk his role there, the club, the wins, the work that still needs to be done and more. • Ep. 85- The Dane is Diving and We Aren't Thriving, with Jamie Grant of the @SouthamptonPage

    28/08/2018 Duración: 01h06min

Another week, another instance of Cedric being out jumped at the back post, another late goal allowed takes points from Saints, and once again we drop points at home, to a team that we would expect to beat given that they were Vardy and Mahrez-less. Nonetheless, we are here with an episode and this week I’m joined by Jamie Grant (@strangerIngs) who runs the @SuthamptonPage on Twitter and Instagram. We break down the match, discuss the good and the bad and, eventually, get to a brief preview of the Carabao Cup Match with Brighton. ***I recorded this show on the road (actually just off of a road, down by the river) because I have an awesome wife and fantastic friends who plan cool stuff for us to do when it’s around our birthdays, etc.). Thanks to Mondo and Karin, and Biscuit and Luz… and mostly my wife, Amanda… I’ll talk to you when you are done watching that KU Volleyball match.*** As always, I hope you enjoy the show, and I look forward to hearing from you! • Ep. 84- Not Much Good at Goodison, with Daniel Adam from the SaintsFCPage on Instagram

    21/08/2018 Duración: 54min

Saints are coming off another loss at Goodison park. Once again, the team started slowly and was on the back foot for much of the first half, and went into halftime down 2-0. Many aspects of the match were similar to those we saw last season. A slow start, Cedric left along and losing a header, an inability to control the game. But, there were also some positives as well. Saints did create some clear chances and Mark Hughes made some attacking changes, at one point going 4-2-4, with three strikers on the pitch. In all, it wasn’t a total loss. No points, but the first of what we all hope will be many Danny Ings goals this season. The loss, however, does put more pressure on Saints for the return of Claude Puel to St. Mary’s as he brings his Leicester City side, who will be without Jamie Vardy, for a Premier League clash next weekend.   I talk all of that with my guest this week, Daniel Adams. He’s on Twitter @Dan23SFC, and he runs the @TheSaintsFCPage on Instagram. He joined me from Malaysia, where he follo

  • Ep. 83- My Good Friend Mario, With Christian Candler

    14/08/2018 Duración: 51min

The first match of the season has come and gone, and Saints get out of it with a 0-0 draw against at home to a Burnley side that was coming off a Thursday night Europa League qualifier in Turkey. The team looked lost during the early going, and it we seemed unable to really control the match in the middle of the park. However, some personnel and formation changes in the second half saw Saints get on the front foot, and the new signings who got in the match all made an impact on the pitch. I discuss all of that, plus listener questions with Christin Candler (@thecandler on Twitter). Plus, we take your questions and Jay give us a page from the Southampton Page. Be sure to get in touch with the show and give Christian and the Southampton Page a follow.
