    13/07/2016 Duración: 39min

In this episode of The Whole Circle we hear from Mary, a mother who was told her son was allergic to food, yes you read that right, he was highly allergic to ALL food. This is seriously the most amazing story you will hear all year. Mary shares how she healed her son by starting to live a GAPS lifestyle…you really don’t want to miss this episode, it will inspire you to rethink everything. For years she was told that her son was fine and that there was nothing she could do to help him, her mental health suffered, her family suffered and her whole life was a nightmare. After five years of feeling like the worst mother, feeling hopeless and in a place of total fear, she finally found some hope, and this was in the power of food. After hitting her lowest point and realising that her son could die (he was allergic to the medications needed to re-hydrate him) she referred back to a book she had been given years earlier, and this was a book about GAPS – Gut And Psychology Syndrome. Prior to eating GAPS, Mary was eat

  • Episode 11 - Top Five Additives To Avoid

    08/07/2016 Duración: 38min

This episode of The Whole Circle is totally dedicated to going through our tip five additives to avoid. As promised here is a basic breakdown of the additives we discussed within the podcast: Preservative 282 - This is a common ingredient found in many dough type items. Think things like bread, fruit buns, finger buns, and of course wraps. This preservative is linked to both behavioural and learning issues. It may cause skin irritations, headaches, migraines, and it's recommended that asthmatics should avoid it. Annatto 160B - Annatto is fast becoming known as one of the harshest additives in todays food. Research has linked it to a number of serious health issues. Illnesses such as skin irritations, sleeplessness, hives, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and itchy or red eyes It is also linked to behavioural issues such as tantrums, hyperactivity, and even head banging in younger children. There are numerous reports that Annatto has increased the symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. It is also known to exacerbat

  • Episode 10 - Top Five Tips To Eating Additive Free

    04/07/2016 Duración: 14min

In this episode of The Whole Circle we share our top five tips to living additive free. They are easy and anyone can do it, we promise. Tip One – Start Out Slow You might be like Tracey and have the privilege of being able to take things a bit slower, or you might be at your wits end (like Jo was), ready to explode. Either way, we still recommend taking it slowly when just starting out. This is for a few reasons. First, it allows everyone to come to terms with the transition. If you go full-boar and make drastic changes, then chances are you will have the kids up-in-arms about it all, and that will just stress you out even more. You will probably return to your old eating habits and nothing will ever change. By taking it one packet mix, one meal or one day at a time, you will have a chance to introduce new things without as much resistance. Think of it like running a marathon, no one just goes out and runs 45 kms without ever training for it. They put in the training, starting out small, working up to the big

  • Episode 9 - How to Eat Healthy While On The Road With Irena Macri

    30/06/2016 Duración: 37min

In this episode of The Whole Circle we talk to Irena Macri, an amazing person, a keen traveler and a Paleo advocate. We loved this interview and chat about a lot of things, but mostly we talk to her about how to eat healthy while travelling. Here's just some of the topics we cover in the show: What is Paleo? Irena explains that it's a wholefood diet, free from grains, processed food, seed oils. Basically, it's a diet "free from crap". Irena has an amazing approach to food and whilst she takes her health (and her food) seriously, she will also enjoy that pizza while in Italy. She also loves her coffee and realises that this is not a traditional paleo drink. In fact, Irena admits to an 80/20 paleo way, and this works for her. How do we prepare our grains & legumes to make them easier to digest? Irena explains what grains are and how they can effect our digestive system. Soaking your grains helps with removing the GI and helps our gut and digestive system. Stress - we talk about stress and how to avoid it,

  • Episode 8 - Let's talk Additives with Monique from The Nourished Psychologist

    29/06/2016 Duración: 35min

.In this weeks episode of The Whole Circle we interview Monique from The Nourished Psychologist. She is an amazing mum to three beautiful children, and has made the transition to an additive free family after reading a post about additives in today's food. Monique shares her battle with Crone's disease, and how eating a diet free from processed (additive filled) foods, as well as maintaining a gluten, white sugar and dairy free diet, has helped her manage this illness and turned her health around. If you are going to change the way you eat, you need to know WHY you are doing it, and not do it because someone else told you to. Before starting to eat additive free Monique didn't even know how to boil an egg, and would rely on a range of packet mixes to help her cook for her family. But after realising just how bad additives and preservatives are for her (and her family) she started to cook from scratch. Monique shares her insight into how she made the transition, how she started to learn to cook, and how she is

  • Episode 7 - Tracey's Journey into an Additive Free Lifestyle

    23/06/2016 Duración: 29min

The tables are turned and it is Tracey's turn to be interviewed and tell her story. This episode of The Whole Circle podcast explains how Tracey, little by little, bit by bit slowly transitioned her families way of eating. She gets grilled by Jo about her journey into additive free eating and how it all came about. Tracey's story is very different from Jo's and her path to additive free eating started very differently. Tracey has never had issues with food, her kids have never had behavioural issues (related to food anyway, lol) so her choice to eat additive and preservative free is simply that, a choice. But, and this is a massive but, her choice to live additive and preservative free has certainly had it's benefits. Her family are very rarely sick, there are no major skin issues with either of her (hormonal) teenage daughters, she noticed that her kids now eat a wider range of food and will often ask for things they wouldn't have touched a few years ago (like curried chicken pies or butter chicken). Tracey

  • Episode 6 - Dog Food and Natural Skin Care with Adele McConnell

    16/06/2016 Duración: 25min

In this episode we talk to Adele McConnell about her love of animals, her motivation behind her ebook - Delicious Doggy Dishes and we discuss her passion for all natural skin care. Are we feeding our dogs 'junk food'? Whilst Adele is a passionate vegan, that does not mean her dogs are. It might seem a little strange to some people that a vegan would be so interested in dog food, but after listening to this podcast you will have a different opinion of store bought dog food (we know that we do) and why it is so important to feed our dogs a balanced diet. Adele explains it in the perfect way - are we feeding our dogs a whole bunch or 'junk food'? Are your dogs smelly, fat, have rotten teeth, or all of the above? Let Adele explain to you just how easy it is to get rid of these heath issues, and we are not sure about you, but our dogs are just as much a part of our family as our kids, so we are now on the path to feeding them the healthiest food possible (and this is no longer dry kibble!). She generously passes o

  • Episode 5 - Jo's Story

    06/06/2016 Duración: 31min

Episode #5 of The Whole Circle is all about Jo. Tracey interviews her on how it all began, why she chooses to eat additive free and the effects this is having on her whole family. But it starts way before the birth of her children, as you will discover. Tracey delves deep (as sisters can, lol) and asks questions going right back to Jo's struggle with weight from her teenage years, to how she has transformed her life into a diet full of nutrient dense foods, and has become the healthiest version of her. Her happiness is way more important to her than body image and she wants to share that with everyone, and anyone, who will listen. Some questions we ask: Do you need scales to tell you if you’re healthy or not? Does social media play a part in how we should look (or how we think we should look)?
