Episode 28 Me Solo Intuitive Exercise
23/03/2017 Duración: 23minToday as I mourn the loss of my friend, my old negative Body Image issues arise. I feel fat, ugly, swollen, bloated...when really inside i just feel sad. My old coping mechanism popped up and as I internalized my emotions to feel like there was an issue with my body, I realized I am actually just sad. So today as I allow myself to feel. I also felt like I had lots to say on the topic of intuitive Exercise. As a fitness instructor, I love exercise and I love promoting it to people. I know all the benefits to exercise and I want to help people to make healthy choices. I am also aware that exercise has become a dangerous place for many who have shared my disorders with food and body image and the use of exercise can be damaging. Episode 26 #inthefaceofBDD Omarie interview
22/02/2017 Duración: 47minIn this Episode we discusss Omarie's journey of suffering with Body Dysmorphia Disorder (BDD) to starting a 365 day campaign called #inthefaceofBDD where he shares a picture of his face everyday for a year to stand up to his disorder and to help others to become aware of it and get help too. Watch this video to understand what BDD is like for those who suffer with it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNrxksPbgUg The term Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) describes a disabling preoccupation with perceived defects or flaws in appearance. It can affect both men and women, and makes sufferers excessively self-conscious. They tend to check their appearance repeatedly and try to camouflage or alter the defects they see, often undergoing needless cosmetic treatments. Onlookers are frequently perplexed because they can see nothing out of the ordinary, but BDD causes devastating distress and interferes substantially with the ability to function socially. Episode 22 Dan Lewin BIMGAP
15/01/2017 Duración: 01h05minBody image dissatisfaction is not gender biased, both men and women experience these issues. However, many men do not express their vulnerability when it comes to body image. It can be a long road to self-acceptance, but by sharing his story, Dan hopes that it encourages both men and women who are struggling with body image concerns (and any associated unhealthy behaviors) to reach out if they need support to break free from society’s pressures of conforming to BS beauty ideals. -taken from https://www.innerselfrevealed.com.au/ Dan first inspired me to speak to him as he shared a nude picture of himself with the quote.. "My body is not broken, It does not need to be fixed, It is what it is, not flawed, but characteristically me" I wanted to ask Dan about this great image and why he decided to become an Ambassador of the Body Image Movement. Episode 16 Weight Loss And BOPO Rant
31/10/2016 Duración: 15minWelcome to Episode 16 of the FeustelFIT Podcast. In this Episode I share my thoughts on Body Positive weight loss, is there such a thing? What does it mean to be body positive? How can we be happy in our bodies but still try to change them? Isn't that a contradiction. I wanted to find out and I thought someone must have made a video on this.. I found this:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3bgQytuUY0 This lady describes how she is BOPO but still actively trying to lose weight. That's her choice, but she is clearly uneducated on HAES- 'health at every size'. After recording my audio Sarah Vance made a video so I wanted to share her opinions on this too:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjIyqhSV1_o Let me hear your opinions? Comment or email nicola@feustelfit.co.uk I may read out or discuss your comments on the next show. As always the opinions expressed in this audio are my own and not intended to offend anyone.
